People are evil

So I just returned home to Florida after a road trip with the family to New Mexico, and needed to run to the grocery store for some basics...milk, bread, etc... Naturally, having not driven my 2SS (Big Black)in over a week, I was having withdrawals, so I decided to take her out of the garage and really enjoy my trip to the store. So I'm sitting at a light with my windows down, listening to Third Day (Christian band) of all things, when some a-hole in the left turn lane decides to drive by me and spit into my window! Seriously!?!? Who does that!? I'd never even seen the guy...didn't pass them on the street...nothing.
There is a certain type of evil in this world that I do not understand, nor do I wish to. I can only chalk it up to the dude maybe having a miserable life, and wanting to do hateful things, to make other people miserable too. I don't want to be so arrogant as to assume it was because he was jealous of the car, but I can't rule it out. Ultimately, I think the guy was just a prick, and doing hateful things to other people makes him feel better about his own miserable existence.
I thought for a minute about chasing the guys down, (which would have been about a 10 second chase), but then what? Most people in this area carry guns, and I would hate to leave my kids fatherless over something so stupid. Hindsight, I could have at least followed them and called the police, because spitting on someone is considered aggravated assault in Florida, but again, hindsight is always 20/20. I was seriously dumbfounded. I still cannot believe it happened. The guy will get his in the end, I'm sure. I just wish I could be there to witness it.

I have to say, I did have a serious conversation with my wife about arming myself. Takes about a week for a military guy to get a concealed weapons permit in Florida. I will be doing that soon.

Agreed, and I'm not insinuating that I would. I'm just saying that I would have more confidence to confront someone about something like that, if I knew I could defend myself with a weapon if they had one, and I needed to. You just never know anymore. There are too many people out there that just have no regard for human life.

I would. As stated in another thread a few weeks ago, another guy spit on someones car while they were driving.

People do stupid sh*t because they expect people to let them get away with it. There is no way in the world he would walk away from that situation without a life changing event happening.

just remember, if you chase somebody down and you're armed, don't leave your car...let him come to you. if he spit on you, he'd probably like to throw a sucker punch too. self defense, case closed.
oh, and he doesn't approach you, get his tag and call the law.

I usually write that sort of thing off "considering the source"...usually someone like that has nothing to lose, (you do), and I'm done raising kids..! lol...whatever sort of action I could contemplate taking, wouldn't be worth my own time and effort, for an outcome that would probably have no impact on the low-life anyways...

That's exactly what I did. It took a lot to stop myself from getting totally enraged, but I started praying for peace in my mind, and for the guy, and it really calmed me down.

I also agree with the post right above yours, that said "people do stupid s**t because they expect people to let them get away with it". It is REALLY tough to let someone go after something like that, but I have to trust that the guy will be dealt with in God's time. Like I said though, I will be arming myself, if for no other reason than, now I know from personal experience how little regard people have for others, and I will not get caught helpless when someone decides to do something more serious, and my family's safety is at risk.

Maybe they tasted a bad snack and were spitting it out? People can be careless.

It took effort to spit across a lane, into a window, while moving. It was intentional.

Then they had issues because that was a stupid thing to do.
