Is the vendor a site sponsor? If not, that's why.

Nope not a sponsor , but I've posted similar posts before. I don't see why that should matter..I was under the impression that we were all here to help each other and saving a bit of cash would be helpful to most.

That wouldn't have anything to do with it unless they were previously banned.

I've had threads deleted, as well as posts edited/deleted for no good reason, and no notice either.... And I wasn't trying to sell anything, wasn't off topic, wasn't inapproriate in any way. Makes you wonder....

The staff never deletes threads or posts for no reason. Sometimes, we may not share those reasons with the people affected but rest assured, we don't just arbitrarily delete a thread because it suits our fancy.

In addition to removing content that violates rules, we will also remove posts/threads which we see that it will cause problems when people reply to it (or alternatively, problems have already occurred when people replied to it and it was deemed unsalvageable). On top of that, just because you didn't see a reason for a thread to be deleted, doesn't mean that there weren't a dozen posts deleted already, with warnings sent out to the instigators, and despite all that ... they keep going and we're left with no other choice but to delete the thread. Usually we'll just close it, but if the topic isn't contributing much to the site, we'll just get rid of it altogether.

I appreciate all the input but still don't have an answer about why the thread was deleted.

Some people probably started drama and the mods deleted it, and they sent warnings to them. Just start a new one man.

Most likely what happened to your thread is; a sponsor complained that you were stealing customers so the Moderators had to delete it since the sponsors pay the bills.

That's the most straight-forward answer you'll get.

Just because you gave an answer doesn't mean its the right answer. And we aren't going to let people spread false information regarding our reasons for removing a thread.

Sadly, get used to it and accept it. It happens all the time.

That's why it would be nice if the mods would give a reason before they delete the posts or threads. One, the extra step might curb some of the seemingly frivolously deleted posts. I'm sure the mods have a reason when they do it, but not sharing the reason doesn't fix the issue.

I had posted in one of the ambient lighting threads asking why everyone is using the $30+ GM LED instead of just buying the pre-wired LEDs from a different site for $3. Like Medic, I thought that the purpose was to help other members and saving cash is definitely a huge help and I was genuinely curious if there was something special about the LEDs that I wasn't seeing. Especially since you just take the $30 LED and remove the plastic holder from it so all you have left is the LED and the inline resistor. My post got deleted and no one told me why. When I went back to the thread a couple days later to read the responses, I couldn't find my post and I just thought I was crazy and didn't hit submit, so I posted it again. If the mods would have said "You're posting this in a thread that was created by a sponsor" then I would have realized why my post was deleted and wouldn't have posted it twice.

As a forum owner myself, I understand protecting the sponsors to some extent but sometimes it's a little overboard here.
