Old Suburban info??? Please help!!

So i found out this week that come summer, my truck would be needing an upwards of $500 repair

. As it is not even worth that much, i was thinking i would probably just try to buy a different truck. Then today when i went out to start it, she wouldnt fire. Not the battery, not the alternator. Not exactly sure whats wrong, but seeing as it was only going to last a few more months anyways, if the repair for this new thing is anything expensive, im just going to ditch the truck now. Iv been looking at some of the older Suburbans, and im thinking that ill get one. Just wondering if theres anyone on here who knows a lot about them, as i am far from an expert on these trucks. Any info on common problems or things to look for? My price range is quite low, so im expecting theyll have some problems. Im looking at the 8th gen, which is 73-91 i believe, but specifically the years 85-90. Im really in a bind, i drive 86 miles a day for school, so i need a truck asap. Thanks in advance!!

if you can get a 91 with the 4l80e I would get it. It drives like a dream and mines has about 260,000 miles and went through only 1 rebuild back in 96 due to my dad buying it at a auction
