Dodge ram cummins

Anyone own a new cummins preferably a 2010+ did you do the dpf and egr deletes and if so how did you pass inspection? Also is the dpf and egr just the two part under the hood, did you have to do anything to the exhaust?

The egr is located high on the engine with a crossover pipe near the valve cover. Blocking the egr is super easy and to cheap but you need a tuner to take care of check engine light.

The dpf is a large container located after the cat with 2 fuel lines running to it. Easy to delete as well. You wont pass inspection if you have emissions.

I don't think I'd do the deletes. I been doin more research now and see alot of people saying that the problems are pretty much cleared with the 2010+ models and even now the 07-09 because of program and software updates. There saying there more driver friendly you can let them sit and idle better mpg and performance so we will see time will tell

If you are not going to change the exhaust, deleting the EGR and the DEF will result in the particulate filter clogging constantly. The new systems are working much better and are not failing at the old rates.

Lots of complaints on the cummins forum about fuel economy. That's what has kept me from getting one.

Ya that's what I've read to the mpg I can deal with. I just don't wanna by one and deal with the dpf problems that's why I'm lookin to see if the bugs have been worked out of the 2010+ I haven't really heard of anything or seen anyone really say anything about it.

If you don't have to worry about inspection, then doing the deletes and adding a tuner for the CEL is the way to go. Mileage increases of 3-5 mpg are not uncommon at all.

Ya I've heard the mpg get much better with the deletes and tune. But I wouldn't bother doing it here In mass just cuz inspection. I don't want to have to deal with changing everything back every year that's why I'm trying to find more info on issues with dpf but haven't found much on the 2010+
