The Smoking Tire says SLP's ZL1 is a Waste!

http://www.thesmokingtire.com/2011/s...aste-of-money/

Is it just me or is Matt Farrah & the Smoking Tire in general the BIGGEST Ford Mustang fanboys on the planet? It seems like they all hate the Camaro all the time.

well for the price, the specs don't sound that awesome... I mean seriously. I'd much rather have a real ZL1 (plus pocket change for mods) or ZR1

the guy is just stating the facts and truth about it being a huge waste of money. Try this with an open mind.....$80k + your own SS = SLP ZL1....is what? For $30k less, you can get a brand new Z06 and shit all over that "after-market" car...and.... or you can get a GT-R and shit and piss all over it!

Yeah you are true about that... The GT-R is more car than most everyone and is around the $90,000 price range which is cheaper.

I'm not a Ford troll like other people who patrol this forum, but the SLP package isnt worth $110,000 even if author is a bit of a douche. The sad part is that the douche is magazine racing. He's writing a blog post based on published stats, not his own experience with the car. Any person with two hands can type out their opinion based on numbers they read on the internet. People do that here all the time.

SLP is banking on their ZL1 to be worth a lot more someday....well maybe if GM didn't start building factory ZL1s.

THIS.

For that coin get a z06 and have $ left over for mods. Or get a zr1. Or anything else that costs 110k.

For that money I'd take a nice Corvette over this. I agree with everyone on his assessment. It's just not a very well thought out car. It reminds me of when the Super Snake came out for the Mustang back in '08. Who would spend that much money on what amounts to not much performance. Sure it's powerful but if I can't plant it I might as well get something way less powerful and cheaper that I can plant.

Didn't see anything I can disagree with. It's in the same boat as the GT350; unique, but nowhere near worth the price of entry.

I think so. a $100k for a camaro? where you can spend the same money for the ZR1 and be twice as fast!

I personally think it wus a waste and just a mistake. you could buy an SS and spend half of the money you pay for the SLP ZL1 and have a faster camaro.

I think they need to take professional driving lesson and leave their ford fanboy bias at home. Motor Week TV has a video of the SLP ZL1 at Roebling Roads raceway outside Savannah, Ga and they recorded 0-60 time of 3.2 sec and 1/4 time of 11.1 @ 129 mph. I am more inclined to believe Motor Week who test cars on an unbiased evaluation basis than this clown. I never cared for him on the now cancelled "The Car Show".

I still think 100K is lot of coins but if it makes you happy and you can afford it, why not, go for it. If I had that kind of disposable cash, I would have a 2013 ZL1, 2013 ZR1, 2013 Z/28, 2013 Z06 and a 2013 Lingenfelter Twin Turbo LS7 Camaro. That's just a few dream cars for my garage. I love seeing the USA in my Chevrolets.
