So who was the idiot that decided it was better to move the high beam control from the floor to the column? I so want the floor switch back. Dumbest change ever made to cars.
BRING BACK THE FLOOR SWITCH!!!

Why? So that its easier to accidentally turn your highbeams on?

How so? I never had that problem. How old are you? Did you ever have a car with a floor switch?
![]() Sorry for the rant, but every time I drive my 3500 LTZ I wish I had floor switch. I don't know why it bothers me so much in this truck ,but it's a real problem. |

I had problems with my last foot switch in my 67 Ford 100.
It would get sticky from salt life. So I don't miss it or the three on the tree |

It can actually be retrofitted for about $15 if you really want to

It's on the floor, along with the turn signals, in our buses.
The switches start sticking after a while and become annoying as hell.

its easy to do on the 4th gens..... I've heard of a few people having the switch on the stalk breaking and instead of buying a new stalk, just putting the button on the floor and wiring it in. I first drove stick in a '65 vette, it had the lights like that on the floor..... I kept flashing my highbeams when I'd set my foot off to the side . I wish they'd put a 5 speed on the column in trucks now too

Well that was one of the problems they had back in the day too ,but I believe if they were designed differently that they could be more reliable. Although I've had very little problems with them over the years. I've probably owned or own just as many if not more cars with the floor switch than without. It just makes more sense to me. Why add one more thing for your hands to do when you have a left foot just sitting there most of the time.

I dont remember if my '73 monte carlo had the high beam on the floor or not, it was 20 years ago when i had it. I remember my mom's ford ltd wagon had it, and i think her dodge magnum too. But it did seem a better place for it.
