Which Used Car Round 2
Ok, so I talked with some of you on some used car choices I was thinking about a couple of weeks ago and I appreciate the opinions and feedback I got from my fellow Camaro owners and fans here on the site. Now I think I have narrowed down my used car to two choices now. So which in your opinions would make the better daily driver car?
1. 2004 Volkswagen Jetta- Pluses has nice leather interior, sunroof, looks nice both interior and exterior, has side rear view mirrors with de-frost, lower mileage, tinted windows. Minuses- Doesnt have much horsepower 2. 2006 Nissan Altima- Pluses- has grey leather seats, decent power, exterior looks good and interior looks alright, tinted windows. Minuses- Has a small tear in the back seat, doesnt have a sunroof or heated side mirrors, some of the tint was coming off the drivers side window, has a little over 10,000 more miles than the Jetta. I'm leaning more toward the Jetta because it seems like it has a little nicer interior and has other amenities that the Altima doesnt have plus a few less miles. I have seen some problems of people losing their bumper covers on the jettas because of parking them over the parking space but im not worried about that. What are everyones opinions between these two cars? Thanks for any and all opinions, and information from people that have driven or had experience with either car!

After owning and working on cars id say the Nissan. VW products are junk and would would never own another. I had problems out of mine after 2 months of owning it, and they never stopped.

Our next door neighbor owned the Jetta which blew up on the highway. Also a coworker had the exact bumper problem you mentioned and never hit anything (according to him).

Did you look at any 02 maxima 6 Speeds? I think they look better than those 06 Altimas and their much cheaper, and faster...
![]() It takes very few cosmetic mods to make them look good. Rims, blacked out headlights, grill, smoked side markers, a lip, and a drop and you're pretty much set. They run low 14s stock too and they get into 13s easily with bolt ons. When my LT was stock vs my friend's 02 6 speed from a roll he put almost 4-5 cars on me with just an intake. |

I just had a semi run over my VW passat. The car had 276,741 miles on it, there was a coolant leak that started at about 225,000 which was a flange made of plastic, and I need to replace the steering rack because one of the rubber boots tore and the cylinder was leaking steering fluid. Other than that it was awesome. I drove it like a race car. I changed the oil, and tires, rear brakes at 100K fronts at 200K. It was a manual trans. I did have a failure of the ABS module, but I think Bosch had more to do with that than VW. The only other issue was keeping headlights in it. They would go out randomly, some would last 25K miles others would last 75K. Didn't matter what brand, and I always used gloves to install.

You should be able to scoop up a nice one for about $5,000. That one up there has very little done to it, you can really make them look nice. They get over 30 on the highway too with an intake. Lmk if you need any more info I was into them for a solid 3 years before I got my Camaro, had the same model. I can let you know what to look for if you decide to get one. Good luck either way! |
