Whats your personality or why did you choose?

I am bored at work so I figured I write this question because my parents of all people brought this up to me. So, I’ve been looking at trading in my ss and possibly getting the Zl1. My Dad said, “why not the CTS-V coupe”? He goes on saying you get the best of both worlds, luxury, power, handling, and you don’t look stupid taking your wife downtown with a raw, loud sounding obnoxious muscle car to dinner and handing the keys over to the valet. It’s refrained and best of all it’s a sleeper.
I thought about it, and my response to him was “well, I am not ready for a CTS-V”. He looked at me and stated, “What do you mean” (as if I was going to say it was too expensive)? Well its simple actually pops, I am in my low 30’s and I can’t see myself telling my friends I drive a Cadillac just yet. I understand it’s a proven track god and it’s relatively quiet, comfortable when it wants to be, and a car that can be docile enough to take out for a night downtown. However, I don’t want that just yet. I want the obnoxious look, sound, and I want the raw interior and the raw feel of the car. I want the bold, brash look as well. And honestly I explained, if I want to go downtown or take my wife out, well we will take one of our other cars. Now if this was going to be a DD or one of our only cars then I might swing towards the caddy. But for now, I still want to be a kid I told him. Typical pops looks at me and goes,” fair enough, but I’d still take the caddy”.

So why are you considering the Zl1 over the CTS-V coupe, is it looks, your love for the Camaro, or something entirely different like myself?

YEAH I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN, MY OLDER BROTHER SAYS WHY DON'T I GET A CORVETTE INSTEAD. I TOLD HIM I NEVER BEEN A BIG FAN OF CORVETTES, THEN HE SAYS WHY DON'T I GET AN SS AND MOD IT. I HAD AN SS AND I SOLD IT JUST FOR THIS CAR . HE THINKS 50K PLUS IS JUST TOO MUCH FOR THIS CAR, BUT I LOVE IT AND I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE THINKS.

For me, it's been a life long love affair with the . I would have no other performance car for any price. The ZL1 is the culmination of my dreams for a true, ultimate, high performance factory built Chevrolet Camaro.

Hmmm......... After many hours of deep thought and self analysis ......I came to this conclusion. I prefer the ZL1 over the CTS-V coup because ....its Uberer!

The ZL1 appeals to me over the CTS-V because the focus is performance and I like the styling better. I have all the luxury in my daily driver, no need for it in this car. Plus I'd rather have the obnoxious sound to drive to a nice dinner! If I was looking at a daily driver, CTS-V might win over ZL1 but I wouldn't really be considering either to be honest - I'd be looking for something like my current daily driver that has AWD, NAV, and cargo room that can fit my giant dogs in the back

I am on the fence between the ZL1 and a CTS V Sedan. The main difference is $20,000 in price as the CTS V comes in darn near $70G they way I would want it which is why I am considering a used one. When I look to purchase in the 2013 timeframe I'll look to see what 2011 CTS V sedans are selling for.

If the car were soley for me and I didn't have to worry about who else was going to need to drive it on occasion I would be ZL1 without a doubt. I too am not quite "Caddy-age" but I am 39 and would be 40 by the time I buy but I don't care about driving a caddy if it is putting down 600 to the wheels after exhaust, pulley, a tune, and some meth. My biggest pause on the ZL1 is the fact that my wife will need to drive the car on occasion (the reason I sold my 2010 LS3 2SS that was cammed and putting down 460rwhp) and that I have four small kids. Getting the auto tranny in the ZL1 would solve the wife driving it issue but the practicality of a four door sedan makes a little more sense for my household. Unfortunately this has me considering the new Charger SRT8 as well... I know, that may be blasphemy around here but whatever car I go with I am planning on driving it into the ground for over a decade...

My reasons for owning a ZL1 :

Attachment Anxiety.
Soul Replenishment.
Identity Confirmation.
Once in a lifetime Opportunity.
Joy of owning an historical milemark of automotive history.
Filling a void left by unfortunate circumstances.

The reason why I am buying a ZL1 is that for the money I could never mod my 2SS and even get close to all the upgrades on this beast and be factory backed.

Reminds me of the cars I drove back in my late teens and twenties back
in the 70's and early 80's. Tired of driving family cars coughs *Honda Accords* , so its time for a nice change. I don't care if gas is $10 per
gallon I'm going to have a blast again, and my wife maybe wearing a pair
of white nuckles before long muhahaha.
The biggest question for me will be if I can drive this beast in a manual
transmission its been like 30 years in an auto trans.. This car just looks better
suited with a stick, oh well gotta go check out some SS camaros and see
if i can handle the launch ok. Added bonus to a stick my 20 year old does not know how to drive one, so I can use that as an excuse when he asks
to try it out.
