CAFE exception for fast cars

I think everyone in the world would be happier if fast cars didn't go away. Sooooo, I propose that all cars that make over 450 hp or can top 170mph and weigh less than 5000lbs should be exempted from counting toward cafe standards!!!

They'd have to put a limit on how many 450+hp vehicles they could offer.

Honestly... they wouldn't. When hyper inflation hits as bc of the trillions the fed is printing and a return to normal money velocity... and obamas bloated budgets.... gas prices will go through the roof. Not very many ppl will want 450hp + cars. I can't see GM sticking a 480 hp "LS4" say in every car. Can you imagine and LS4 cobalt or an ls4 ummmm aveo??

I think CAFE is a complete mess but exceptions just make for an even more bigger mess.

Remember last summer when gas was $4/gal and the Dems were practically in lynching mode towards the previous administration because they had not changed CAFE rules in so many years?
People have spoke up and put the Dems in power. Now that they are in there is no way they will repeal CAFE rules.
It will take one helluva lot of speaking up to change this and it is just not going to happen.
I post on other forums that are not car related and many people think they are not tough enough. Easily as many as think they are too tough as far as I have seen.
That is the reality nowadays.

As far as your other poll on speed limits, again I see more people calling for going back to the double nickel than raising them.
Modern day political reality.

No we have CAFE because we had a very bad gas crisis in the 70s and the government thought it was the only way to get manufacturers to improve gas mileage.
We (as a population) keep voting in representatives that will support increasing it. So it looks like a majority of our citizens support the idea.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that a majority of others agree with you. I personally think that the market should dictate but understand why people support the idea.
