SUV suggestions?
my mom rented a jeep patriot a while back and is in the market for something extremely similar, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
guidelines: v6 easy to switch gears (like toyotas and dodge brand auto shift) - where u don't have to click/press anything. 2 & 4WD capabilities nothing too big (like the jeep commander) and nothing too small (like the Pontiac vibe) she's leaning toward a used patriot but doesn't like the direction/current state jeep is in, ...I can't blame her. - she wants to buy new though, opposed to a used jeep patriot any/all help is appreciated. thanks in advance!

Don't get a Patriot that the same terrible platform as the Caliber. I would recommend any version of the Chevy Equinox. My mom has one and I have driven it extensively and was very impressed. It meets the criteria your looking for as its not too big or small. It can also be had in FWD/AWD configuration with an I4 or V6.

Chevrolet Equinox or the GMC Terrain would be great choices.
Not sure what you mean by "easy to switch gears where don't have to press/click anything". Are you talking about the transmission? or the transfer case.

My wife has a 2010 Terrain, and other than a suicidal deer, it has been great. My mother has an 06 Escape and it has also been trouble free.

Wasn't aware the Patriot came with a v6. There is only one small SUV I would consider, Subaru Forester.

Theta-IIs are great choices.
If you're wanting a truck-based SUV, GMT-360s are pretty much bulletproof, at least my Envoy has been.

the patriot is only 4cyl, that's part of the reason why she didn't care much for it. shes lookin for a v6
as for easy gear shift in auto, I mean the shifter console, switching from park, to drive, to reverse, she likes just moving it over to the gear like toyota and dodge stuff has theirs set up, as opposed to clicking a button (like on the cobalt and other GM vehicles) she has a bad thumb so it makes it difficult to click the button at times cuz she has to compensate. (and yes, I know you aren't using ur thumb to click the button, but the thumb is still involved in that process) however on toyota and dodge u could use ur inner or outer hand to easily switch gears.. sorry for the long crappy/drawn out explanation, I just woke up >.< hopefully u get it tho? lol..

Pretty sure the Theta-II console shifter has the button on the front so you use your fingers to depress the button, not your thumb. The only thing she'd need her thumb for is for the TapShift button on the side shifter.
