Washington State to pull over the most annoying drivers on the road. No, not ricers!

Finally a sane piece of legislation to come out of the West Coast. Surprised OHSHP didn't start it first since they're essentially the National "traffic" Nazis.

Amen. This is the bane of my existence. Here on Hwy 2 north of Spokane, Left Lane Campers (heretofore known as LLC's) will get into the left lane to turn left... 3 miles from their turn... and proceed to go 45ish in a 60 zone. This usually means they are pacing gramma going 45 in the ford lane.
The flip side of left lane being strictly for passing, is that it is usually in MUCH better condition than the ford lane. We use salt and studs on this side of the bump, and that combination eats the roads up. As long as the state is not fixing the potholes I'm sticking to the passing lane. The ticket would be cheaper than fixing my suspension.

It's not a new law. It's been the law ever since I moved up here in 1979...and I'm sure it's been here longer.

It's just that certain people don't pay attention to it.

It's also a law in Oregon and California, and probably some other states too.

At least five times, if not more, I have witness marked patrol cars have to go around these left lane campers in the right lane.

Each time I was waiting for the blue lights to come on, but have yet to see it.

One time I was in the car with my parents and they were camping in the left lane. I mentioned to them that we were getting passed in the slow lane, that maybe we should get over. Their response was, "no, too much traffic from the on and off ramps to drive in that lane."

It's a law in every state. The left lane is for passing. Period.

What I want to know is, if I'm going more than the speed limit, and everyone else on the road is doing at or below the speed limit, can I just stay in the left lane as long as I'm always passing people?
