American Mid-Engined Cars
I wish people would make more mid-engined American sports cars. The last one made was the Ford GT, and thhat was a great car! Why not make more?

cus they are expensive as crap, most all are 2 seaters. and it isnt something very viable for business. basically if a front engined corvette can whoop the asses of the mid engined super cars from the world for less, why change perfection?

I'm just saying, if someone can make one, then people might think differently about American cars.

I'd love to see a Cadillac Cien make production with a big engine in back.

There will most likely never be a strong enough business case for a mid-engined car from GM.

![]() ![]() ....or Sucasas Motor Company recently announced its grandiose plans to create a new American supercar, with the emphasis on American — considering several paragraphs' worth of heavy-handed jingoistic argots. A reported half-million dollars into the car's development, the company, based in Tacoma, Washington, has built a 1/5-scale prototype of the car, which it plans to build in V8, V10 and V12 versions, and price at around $150,000. The company says it's aiming to build credibility for the car by competing in (and winning) Formula One and 24 hours of Le Mans. All it needs is money. Anyone care to write a check? ![]() I strongly considered this rebop at one time in the late 70's, very cool! Not only do i want a mid-engine car...... it has to be affordable, like the Cayman S (but better) i want a 20 - 40 thousand mid engine car like Volkswagen audi and porsche are doing. if the camaro didnt mean so much to me i would be all over that VW concept from detroit (or the audi/porsche variant)

Fastest Production Car in the World is American and mid engined, and beat the Veyron's record on a 2mile straight and i believe had one gear left. (The Bugatti took 8 miles, right?) |

Didn't GM make a mid-engine 2-seater (with plastic body panels that could never rust) a while back?

The Fiero had potential, but also had to many design flaws. If they had made the car a little longer, a little wider, and put a better engine in it, it would of been a great car.

The GT wasn't so great. On the track, it was essentially the equal to the Viper and Z06 while having no practicality (as opposed to limited practicality in the other two) for a much higher price.

Maybe in better economic times Caddy could get a mid-engined supercar. Following Audi's R8 example might work well.
