Threads

why is it that seemingly good thread topics have to get moved where no one will ever see or respond to them. I think this site would be better if the mods left most of the threads here. it is no wonder the same topic comes up again and again. btw, I am sure this will be moved

also it does say this right at the top "Come discuss anything and everything related to the 5th generation Camaro."

apparently you cannot discuss anything and everything related because it will get send to thread pergatory elsewhere on this site.

Not sure what the problem is. The mods move threads to their relevant sections. Organization is absolutely necessary when you have a site with over 37,000 members

to some extent, I think they should re-word the description of this section because you cannot discuss anything or everything about the 5th gen camaro. I hate it when you get alot of good responses to a topic then it gets moved and ultimately dies. rarely will it get any more responses once it has moved on. so then the next person will post up the same question again and again.

if I was going to take this section litterally then 90% of the threads would have to be moved. right now there is a thread about soft paint..... maybe it needs to go to the warranty section?

I think this site would be more enjoyable if the mods would ease up on organizing the topics like they do.

just sayin.

it should be more specific as far as what you can post up as a topic if they wont allow "anything or everything"

I am sure this will be moved to the complaints dept where it too will die

Bump it if you're looking for feedback. If we leave things in the wrong section, then it just makes it more difficult to find what you're looking for, or what you're most interested in. Maybe I'm just not understanding the comments

for instance there is a brand new topic regarding cheap leather on the camaro and how the owner got a tear in his seat. i guess he should have posted that in the warranty section. my guess is he is interested in a quick response and not to wait hours for someone to be looking in the other section.
i don't see the harm in it being in this section. topics will fade naturally to the back on their own

Agreed.

Thank you volunteer moderators for your hard work, but it would be nice if there was a main page like this with ALL the discussions, and then copies in the proper sub-forums.

That would just be a waste of space and memory.
It would be better if people would browse through the "new topics"
instead of focusing on one sub-forum and causing the "purgatory" that you are talking about.

The forum is organized the way it is for a reason. If there is something specific you want to talk/read about go to that section.
It's not our fault, it's the member's fault for only reading one sub-forum section.

You can blame it on the customer if you like but the truth is that this particular forum pulls the lion's share of members. Every thread that I started that was moved quickly fell into oblivion...a thread might as well be locked.

As a forum admin elsewhere, I agree that C5 is set up pretty well. I see threads that start in the main section and think "yep that will get moved". But there IS a system. Look at the main menu. If you are interested in DIY projects, there is a section for that. If you have a V6 like me, there is a section for that. There is a search feature. I scroll through the main page then check new posts. I check if anything's new in my PNW section. Scroll titles to see what I might be interested in learning about.
I think it's cool the devs take the time to move posts to their appropriate spot AND they're around to cool the heels of overzealous trolls that badger the good visitors of C5. When threads are in appropriate sections, it becomes easier to find what you want, and get answers too.
Thanks admins & mods,

If by oblivion you mean the proper forum where it belongs, then I guess yes. And people can find that thread right where it should be. Search feature works fine. So I don;t see the point in crowding the general section with threads that don't belong.

i agree. if we did what the OP suggests, then we might as well not have the other sub-forums

By oblivion I mean never to be read or responded to again...doomed to quickly drop to page 2, 3, 15, 30...with the "moved" sticker of death. As long as a thread is active enough to keep it on page 1 or 2, it could be left alone. When members let it drop to page 5 or 6, then it can be archived in the dusty "proper" forum.

My question still is.
Why crowd the general section with threads that belong elsewhere?
It's not our fault if members don't look outside of the general section.
