The truth behind the birth of the LS motor....

Learned this from a friend... found it funny... and lame....

You can use a small block Ford Torque plate to hone an LS bore.

You can bolt LS heads to a small block ford. The bore centers are only about .020 different.


Firing order on the LS is Ford

Symetricial ports just like Ford

You can actually install a different timing chain cover and install a conventional dist in the front...just like a ford.


SO basically GM just put 15 deg heads on a small block ford V8 and made power with them...

No that part is like a Buick.
Front mounted Dizzy and easy access external oil pumps were their thing.

correct me if i'm wrong but a small block buick's distributer is front mounted but still goes through the intake

a small block ford's distributer is front mounted but goes through the timing cover.... just like a distributer converted ls motor

No Buick its the timing cover, same place the oil pump is.

That desing has lasted a long time, it went from the V8 into the 3.8 V6 and even used by Rover, which were used in allot of Jeeps.
