Felt Like I was in Japan

I went to a different mass on Sunday than I usually do and I thought I had moved to Japan. Hondas to the left of me Hondas to the right ! I was scared to park anywhere. They were mostly fugly mini vans. I do own a 2004 Olds mini van and I would not trade it for anything The Japanese car manufacturers produce.

I would truly like to see American cars and other products manufactured in the United States before it's too late. If we ever really go to war we will have men and women willing to risk their lives for our country ,but nothing to fight with. We used to have here in York, Caterpillar. It had over 3,000 employees. It is now just a big warehouse for other companies. It just irritates me when someone like blue oval boy makes the comment he did. Wake up and smell the rapid decline of the the USA.

I agree with you 110%. If we could ever get our manufacturing abilities back in this country there wouldn't be "unemployment". Its just one more skill that we have lost and have become dependent on others for. Gotta love lead painted toys for our children!

good thing theyre one of our allies!!!

its turning into a global economy, get used to it. At least those cars are manufactured right here in the U.S giving us more jobs. As apposed to certain american companies shipping those jobs outside of our borders.

It's the same over here. From the 18th to the first half of the 20th century, we were world leaders in heavy engineering, and textiles. However 60 years of unionisation has outpriced our workforce, compared to India, and the Far East. Now we have no "real" jobs anymore, just a bunch of desk jockeys producing nothing at all.

Blue oval boy, if it comes to a war see what kind of allies they will be. You must be living in fantasy land. Global my butt, there was a post on here , a Camaro goes for $46,000 in Japan. I guarantee there will be no GM cars in Japan. A lot of people just don't get it, just because it's Japanese doesn't make it better. Toyota sold the Chevy Cavalier as the Toyota Cavalier , they knew it was better than their cars.
I really did not know England was in the same boat. I forget the name of the show ,but it's from England and the host always tries to sell Japanese cars to prospective buyers.

they are officially our allies. dont be so paranoid. at least they help our economy by building huge assembly plants here. If we went to war with them, who do you think would take over the plants here???

soooo??? do you think it would cost the same if GM built a plant there and hired japanese workers???im not entirely sure of the politics of it but the economics MIGHT make sense.

they know a lot of people over there associate american cars as crap cars because of the reputation our automakers earned over the years, so the buyers wouldnt really be inclined to buy american cars so changing the names of things helps lots of times. Just like McDonalds owns chains of other restaurants that serve healthy food. They dont just name those other restaurants "McDonalds" because then the people looking for alternative healthier choices wont go there, reguardless of what they serve.

I just wanted to point out before this becomes nothing but rhetoric, the US is still the largest manufacturer of products on the planet. It's just that our manufacturing as a percentage of GDP is in decline. All countries but 2 if I remember right are on the same trendline, those are Korea and China. From the AP.

“The United States remains by far the world’s leading manufacturer by value of goods produced. It hit a record $1.6 trillion in 2007 – nearly double the $811 billion of 1987. For every $1 of value produced in China factories, the United States generates $2.50.”
