Restart your computer in safe mode and run AVG or Adaware. Is the virus doing anything, or was it just detected by your system? Is it screwing with your search engine results?

What OS? I removed mine with the MS free online scan. AVG could not help get rid of it. I loaded MS Security Essentials for my XP and it seems to catch the bad stuff pretty well.

Looks like he's running Vista or 7

If it is a "smart" piece of malware, you might have to change the name of the program you are running. Example: if you're using SUPERAntispyware, you'll need to change the name of the executable from SUPERAntispyware.exe to help1.exe or something

Sometimes, not all the time, System Restore points get infected as well. So even if you go back, the malware/virus is still there!!

well that's why you gotta go back far enough... hopefully you can think back to where you might have gotten the virus.

I hope you get it fixed, but there is no need to pay for computer protection. Lots of stuff available for free.

Oh, I mean that the malware/virus will find it's way into the restore points regardless of when you got it.

Hows it going franknbeans?

At Bombardier Aerospace / Learjet Inc. we use http://www.malwarebytes.org/ . You can use the free version to help assist you in the removal if you can't get AVG to clean it up. For us it has proven thus far to catch about 98% of everything we have thrown at it and what it doesn't we have symantec to take care of the rest.

As an IT Desktop support Technician, I agree fully agree with the statement of Booting into Safe Mode to run whatever Anti-Virus Programs you have.
There are several free programs out there that can help assist you if you are still unable to remove it.

Restore Point = a No No until you remove the virus / malware. (it can and will follow you)
