My yards a National Geograhic show

Found these guys just a week apart in my yard...wouldv'e been cool to have a little cage match with them.

Wouldn't have been much of a match. Any idea what type of spider that is? I've never seen one like it. Good job with the photos too!

actually that little Caterpillar is venemous...not sure if the spider is vulnerable to it though.

Well that makes it a whole different story. I guess that explains the bright green on the caterpillar. I'm just used to seeing bright colors and other defense mechanisms like the spikes as means to simply discourage predators without providing any real physical defense. Like butterflies with the big spots on their wings so when they spread them it looks like a big set of eyes.
