wow my wife is naive ..

I am checking the mail about 50 feet away from my wife who is sitting in her car. a new VW passat without license plates backs into her car cutting the paint way too deep, about 4 inchs long, and rubbing a mark about 8 inches long that is buffable.

the ladies son tells my wife that he can buff it out and that they live in X building and point to it. my wife just says okay, not a big deal, we'll deal with it later.

she doesn't ask for ID, doesn't ask for insurance info, doesn't ask for a name, doesn't ask for a unit number.. nothing, just total blind faith in them. doesn't wave me over, doesn't call me over, just lets them leave. I am really aggravated how care free and passive she was over this.

she doesn't seem to care about her car (even though she paid 25k for it?), but I sure do, and I've been around the block.. I know she at least needs a bumper respray after looking at the damage. now it will be up to me to to locate these people, get them to own up to it, and get them to actually pay for a respray instead of wasting our time trying to let some amateur buff something that is cut 1mm deep. no insurance claim to fall back on, nothing, he said she said at this point :/

just had to vent, was already a bad/long day at work :]

OUCH!

You hit my car, I'm getting your info - even if there is absolutely NO damage. End of story.

then after I went inside to clear my head and eat the first meal of the day (at 8pm none the less), the lid on my enchirito from taco bell popped off in the car apparently and was all over the bag. I almost ****ing lost it right there. that damn two dollar enchirito almost made me lose my sanity! :P

cooled down, talked to the wife and explained why she handled it so poorly and what she should have done.

thankfully that car is from someone that lives here and she was able to at least identify that. correcting it now as we speak ..

about a week after I got my Malibu I was parallel parked across the street from work. A temp backed into my car, and thankfully there was a bunch of people outside on break and witnessed it. I was paged up front to deal with it. I couldn't see any damage but asked for their insurance info anyhow incase I saw something later when I had time to really look it over. Thats when I got the "I don't have insurance". I thought for a second and said "thats ok, a police report will cover me just the same" and called the Sheriff. Needless to say that lowlife never came back.

Moral of the story....ALWAYS cover your ass.

Some people don't care about thier cars the way we do....
Honestly, before my Camaro I could have cared less about a scratch on my Hyundai - it was 8 years old and had scratches - one more wouldn't have mattered. Serious damage ya I wouldn't have let them drive off b/c you never know what's been affected -- but a chip or scratch? Eh...

Now...with Cherry I would probably have cried or beaten them (most likely cried since I've had people hit her twice now and I have yet to beat anyone)
