Fbodfather ALERT-Pls. send a note to the White House

Good morning, Camaro Comrades and Firebird Friends.......

Please -- take a moment to send President Bush a note on making emergency funds available to GM/Ford/Chrysler using the TARP funds.

This is a LOAN -- not a grant.

comments@whitehouse.gov

My heartfelt thanks............

Scott

Dear Mr President,

It is time you step in and give the BIG 3 some money to bail them out or this country is going to get worst in the years to come and who knows when we will be able to get back on our feet. Most of the cars I have ever owned are from GM or Ford with the exception of my first car a VW and a Toyota I got in 1986. I don't plan on buying foreign cars the rest of my life so PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS MESS CONGRESS IS CREATING which will cost millions of Americans JOBS.

Thank you,

Tim Richerson

This is the respond I got back:

I think a phone call would be a better choice....given the timing and urgency of the issue.

Give the White House a call tonight or tomorrow (202-456-1414) and let President Bush know you care!

Subject Help Out Our American People - First and formost

Dear Mr. President,

I have support you and done my best to support the American economy and as you are well aware the big three are in trouble.
I do not know all the facts, nor do I have the time to research them all but I can tell you what we are hearing from the mouths of some of our representatives is grossly untrue. I hope they don’t talk to there mothers with the same mouth that is shooting garbage at the American worker. –

It is sickening that you and our congress can ear mark 700 Billion dollars to be given to bad banks and lending practices and not ask for a plan but when the Big 3 come for a loan you and congress ask for a plan and control????? I didn’t know you and congress were part time Auto Experts - I say you because you are our leader and need to take the bull by the horns and lead us one last time….They will restructure and they will prevail with “our” help. I say “our” because it is part of my Tax dollars at work.

I am a firm believer that oil prices and the world market is to blame for a lot of what is going on. Money doesn’t disappear it moves around. And Oil companies have reported record profits……so as the rich get richer (most of congress) and the rest of us suffer, we are asked to fuel the American economy??? I can’t, nor can many of us. Case in point, if I have to spend $600 a month in fuel to get myself to work, well I stop spending someplace else. Don’t even tell me to go buy a more efficient car…I have one for what I need….I have two kids and need an SUV (which BTW gets 20 MPG – were as 15 years ago they got 7) I think GM has done something right I have what I have to haul all our stuff around. Put you might be on to something. If I can’t afford stuff, we won’t need to haul anything around I will just be traveling back and forth to work to support the oil companies. The structure and the way oil is traded needs to get back to the way it was.

Shipping of jobs and production over seas and allowing imports into the country without balancing taxes is hurting American companies. Especially the Auto Industry? Lets see how well those foreign companies survive if we slap a 5-10000 import tax on them. How can American car manufactures survive? They are the back bone of this country and affect 1-10 and a lot more than that when you think of the jobs lost – the tax base lost – next thing you know it hits our schools, local services etc more then our current state which is BAD.

We are strong but we are weakening and if congress can sit back and in their hearts and minds say it is a good thing for the big 3 to go under then they need to take a good hard look at what has happened the last few years with jobs and see what the next 4 years will bring with that many more out of work. Good luck with your next budget with only ½ of the people currently employed staying employed in the next two years. Congress, you might have to take a pay cut. And BTW the person Reading this email we may not need your job next year in office because it will need to be cut. Congress will need to vote a nice little pay increase with what was left to go around. Which is $0 BTW I would love to see our congress work for a $1 next year to help out the American Business which is on its way to Bankruptcy. What about you MR president? You willing to work for a $1 or give back but al but $1 from your last year’s salary. That’s right you are almost out of there. Like many politicians – they leave a mess for the next guy too.
Good luck on the ranch.

BTW – Will you tell congress to stop using my Social Security for other reasons so I can look forward to that in 30 years? Or better yet, loan it to GM/Ford and Chrysler and stop giving tax breaks to Foreign Auto Makers.

Thank you

here's what I wrote:

The American auto industry, also called the big 3, have, for over 100 years, been a driving force in shaping and strengthening the nation we call the United States of America. With their help, we were able to build tanks and planes during World War II, employ thousands of skilled laborers that built the middle class into the backbone of this nation and become the envy of the world when it came to automotive technology. General Motors, operating for over 100 years, is one of the leaders in the auto industry. Their work on several different technologies has brought them from the problematic years during the oil crisis of the 1970s to the forefront of new technology in the 21st Century. The direct injection technology that goes into the CTS and the soon to be available 2010 Camaro not only gives better power, it helps to reduce emissions and yields better miles per gallon. The Chevrolet Cruze and Volt, which are both projects nearing completion as I type this, take miles per gallon and style and blend them in a way that puts other manufacturers to shame. With the introduction of the Camaro, Cruze and Volt, General Motors is poised to regain lost market share and retain its leadership as the best selling automotive entity in the WORLD, not just the USA.
But the world is slipping into recession and there has been a drastic shift in the demands of the American automobile market. General Motors, along with their across town siblings Chrysler and Ford Motor Company, for years delivered excellence unparalleled in the market of Sport Utility Vehicles and light duty trucks. This market, which served as the bread and butter of the Big 3's bottom line, has seen advancements like no other segment. GM's SUVs are the most fuel efficient line available. Offering dual mode hybrid full size SUVs that match 4cylinder Toyota Camrys in their city fuel efficiency, safety and security with the OnStar technology, satellite radio that was pioneered by Delphi and GM and reliability and quality that is reflected in JD Powers surveys is what GM is becoming known for. But the demand for these vehicles is slipping and the time and money invested in this segment has taken its toll. Delaying the advancement and design of other segments, while advancing the SUV and light truck segment, has put the Big 3 behind the proverbial 8 ball and left them in need of some assistance as they struggle to bring new and better vehicles to market to meet the demands of the American buyer. A loan to these companies, who have given so much to our Nation in the past, is the least we can do to keep them in business and thriving. By loaning them the money they need to survive, we ensure that Americans keep their jobs, American dealerships have products to sell and the American buyer has a choice of buying something made for Americans by Americans.
I'm writing to send my support for these automotive companies that are in need of our help. As an American who has had Hondas in the past, and buys exclusively General Motors products now, I can, without reservation, say that loaning the Big 3 money is the right thing to do. They need our help and its time we gave it to them instead of dragging their names through the mud and insulting their exectuives to cover up the mistakes that Congress has made in the past few months.
