New (old) member onboard...
Hello everybody. I'm a 58 Y/O grandfather of two wonderful kids. Just call me gramps. I actually received my new 2011 1LT on my birthday in July. The timing was incredible. I've been addicted to anything with a motor since I could steer a tractor at the age of 3 on our family farm in western NY. We raced go-karts, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, and I was one of the first guys to put a twin-turbo, alcohol burning 392 Chrysler Hemi in a farm tractor before tractor pulling became popular and turned professional…so I’ve always enjoyed power sports.
My first official "legal" car was a gorgeous 1968 Camaro RS, black with red interior, 327 ci, 4 speed. I wish I still had that car because it was certainly the most memorable. Later in life, with raising kids and struggling financially, I bought primarily practical cars. Now in my later years, being an empty-nester, I've come full circle. I'm back to my American muscle roots...the Chevy Camaro, and loving every minute. It’s like I never left, but better. I opted for the V6, not only for its advanced technology, but also for a more balanced weight distribution, and better handling in winter. This car will be a daily driver. I want to enjoy her EVERY day. I don't care about shaving off ETs, or having everyone hear me coming. In fact, what impresses people most is how such an aggressive looking car can also be very refined, quiet, and comfortable when I want it to be. It turns heads everywhere I go, even when it’s just parked. I was frankly not prepared for the “splash” that this car has created. Anyway, I'm enclosing some pictures and you'll most likely be hearing from me in the forums. I’ve been a lurker for several weeks as I wanted to wait long enough to get my new car, and get some initial pictures. I don’t know many folks on Camaro5 yet, but I find myself checking things out every day. It’s good to be back…driving the best America has to offer.
