I don't know why alot of you guys are shocked or debating this issue. I have been saying for years that Ford is going to put a TVS blower on the Mustang and low and behold they did it the same year GM decided to go after their market. The 2013 GT500 is going to run 10's bone stock with nothing more than a good driver, track and some drag radials. You can mark my words and quote me on that if if you like. Anyone who says that it will be a drivers race is either a fanboy or in fantasy land and needs to come back down to reality. Whoever said that the motor is maxed out is also in lala land and we will be seeing some 800 RWHP #'s on the stock longblock shortly after its release. The only thing Ford messed up with that car is not offering a auto option. GM just flat out messed up on this one and I'm really disappointed in them. I really wanted to see a car stack up to the new GT500 in terms of performance because this is of corse a PERFORMANCE CAR and everything else should come second. You want a nice ride and luxary comforts go buy a Cadillac. You want a true sports car that does fantastic in the road course go buy a Vette. These are Pony/ muscle cars which means brute force in a straight line. They didnt have to put the actual exotic dry sump LS9 in the ZL1 but something in between the LSA and LS9 would have been great like a fully forged LSA with a 2.3 TVS blower putting out 12 psi. Something with lots of room to grow on the factory motor the way the Ford does. Even if the track times end up being somewhat similar with stock tires who cares because the GT500 will be some drag radials away from owning the ZL1. I dont even consider drag radials a mod becuase its not like it voids the warranty or really change the car in any way. Your changing DOT legal tires of 1 brand to DOT legal tires of another brand. When I think of the new ZL1 I think EPIC FAILURE because GM made the car for the sole purpose of taking on the GT500, beating it in every way and putting a serious dent in that market which the GT500 previously had no competition. I'm a GM fan before being a Ford fan but I think GM messed up with this 1. ZL1 owners are going to feel the same way Mustang GT owners felt in the early 2000's when the Z28 was destroying the GT.

Times do change. What was the standard in the past may or may not be the goal in the future. Live with it! Just saying...

I'm not trying trying to pick any fights here at all. It's just that 99% of the people on here do not understand how these ratings are corrected and whatthe difference is between gross and net. It seems some in this thread still do not. I'm leaving a lot out and was trying to give a general overview. Just understand that thes ratings may be generated differently from mfr. to mfr.

yeah man, the sae net hp is more like 375. im with you on this.

Maybe not your kind of car, but just to give an idea of what electrics offer...
An engineer I know says there are 3 kinds of liars. Liars, damn liars, and battery engineers.

Most factory (production) cars do don't they? I think the CTSV did and the ZR1 had a roll bar...

I mean shouldn't they run the ring with roll bars...

I *think* I saw a diagonal cross bar between the front seats a couple of times when I viewed it earlier. According to what I've read on this site, a rollbar is mandatory for running "the ring".
