I had a dodge dart rental car for a week. Talk about cheap! Very noisy at highway speeds. I actually checked it with an iphone ap. At 65 mph it was 70-75 db in the cabin. Puny little engine. I was very unimpressed.

I believe that is a myth! They just don't make as many as they used to.

Hatchs that sell well in the US
VW Golf
Mini Cooper
Focus

Not to mention all the SUV's that technically have a Hatch.

Strange right. Could you imagine the things we wouldtalk about if there was a section for Other Cars?

I wonder how that missing center differential and front open differential are on the Focus once you hit more than a couple inches of snow.

I'm sorry I'm not buying into Ford's advertising like some of you. I applaud them for coming out with performance cars spanning all kinds of ranges lately, but they do more talking than they should especially when the cars end up being tested worse than the competition.

Well, my Legacy has been sold. Time to replace it with something mainly for winter duty.
The STi AWD system will be superior or equal to almost any AWD system in inclement weather. On track though, it leaves a lot to be desired.

Why is it in the, "General Automotive + Other Cars Discussion" section? Was this thread moved or do you really need that question answered?

This thing will be very quick. With a few bolt ons it will be a lot to handle for most of the Camaro SS crowd, way out of the V6's league. Don't be fooled by the Focus name.

Sure it will put power down better than a stock camaro, but I love my clutch pack AWD on my car. I'll just do a K04 swap, and RS4 interior for the recaros, and call it a day.
It has E-diff torque vectoring in the rear. It only uses brake torque vectoring up front.

I think the problem is some (me included) compare cars like this (performance-wise or cost) to Camaros etc and that shouldn't be. It's a different car competing in a different market. I like GTIs/STs/WRXs a lot. They are nimble, powerful and fun. No torque like an LS but if you had it for a daily it isn't terrible.

The costs of the higher end cars (Focus RS) is a stumbling block, as it leads to comparisons. I talk about Focus' because I like cars. All kinds of cars. I love Camaros first but I can appreciate the hot hatch.

I dunno, I guess it's cool if you are into that kind of thing. But I just can't get excited about an ugly hatchback and IMO they are all ugly. I can't imagine the market for these things being very big.

No doubt, they're niche vehicles. But it's a nice market, because of the high ATP's, and it's a market has shown some real growth.

The WRX and Sti's sold 25,429 units for the 2014 MY and they topped that number in 2015's MY. Lancer Evo sells in similar numbers.

With Evo exiting the market Ford can conquest a ton of those Evo buyers, as I doubt they would go for the Subaru. Adding another 1500-2500 sales per month at $36k+ can't be a bad thing.

You do realize there are a lot of performance oriented cars that aren't front engine/rear drive with a bowtie on them, right? I don't think anybody has suggested this car is a competitor to the Camaro/Mustang but I could see it stealing a few sales from both, just not enough to have any real impact in that segment.
