![]() Even so I'd still buy the SS over an SRT Charger (I love the Charger in RT trim, but the SRT doesn't work for me). By the way, the SRT twins (despite being heavier) have a slightly better power-to-weight ratio (9.3 lb/hp vs. 9.6 lb/hp - though the Camaro's LS3 would equalize that). |

I suspect the Charger SRT8 will be among the first head-to-head comparisons we see. Straight-line I don't see how the SS will keep up. Perhaps driving dynamic may be a little better but I've heard good things from the latest batch or SRT sedans. May come down to spending that $2000 price difference on headers, intake and tune to keep up with the Dodge.

The SS is a nice car, no doubt, but exactly what makes it $10-12K nicer than the G8 GT was?

First off, this car would be comparable to a G8 GXP, not a G8 GT. Also, after adjusting for inflation, the GXP's starting price ($39,995 in 2009) would now be $43,349. Considering this car is basically a 'second gen' G8 GXP, a price increase of about $1100 dollars is pretty damn reasonable.

Should run pretty strong for a second gen G8. Will basically be as fast as the cars we have been driving for the last 5 years, just come with more standard features.

I think Team Chevy has something brewing in the kitchen with a future high performance SS. look at what happened to the 5th-Gen Camaro after a couple of years? The engines, gearboxes and suspension components are all available within the corporation, my bet is there's going to be a pleasant surprise for 2015 or 2016. This SS version is just the beginning...
