You may be right, but its pretty hard for me to believe that the auto transmission in the Mustang is so bad that it runs a 14.4 to the manuals 13.7...that's huge. A transmission tune for the Camaro V6 pretty much does almost zero for 1/4 mile gains. If it gets you several tenths on the Mustang, that is impressive (well...Impressive for the tune...not the stock car lol)

Assuming the manual Ecoboost is that much better, then it should be a 13 second car forsure.

That said, I would have bet money that any version of the Ecoboost would have been a 13 second car easy. Hell...I was thinking that car would click off a 13.5.....I don't see that happening now. A tune will completely change it of course.

EDIT: The Car and Driver article is quoting the times as 5.2 and 13.9 for the automatic PP ecoboost....that's much closer to my expectations:

Don't get too excited...that's just a fancy photoshop of the Mustang.....ITS NOT REAL! (I wish it was though...I like it)

I bet the pill is over there telling everyone that they changed the way the 1\4 mile is tested and under the old standards this new mustang would be running 11's stock.

It's surprising to me that the new tang only matched performance. Could ford be releasing in phases? New body rear etc.. Then drops the engine tweak.. We all dream about the Camaro being faster better etc, but does ford really need to improve speed right now?

Who needs tuning, simply order a 8-speed Automatic, bolt on a set of quality DRs, and go hunting. High 11s- to very low 12s, should be the goal.

According to rumors and info from insiders the 5.2 has been seen up to 600 hp internally, but will be dialed back some.

Also theres the rumor that ford will introduce DI with the mid cycle refresh to help keep things interesting. Along with the new 10 speed Auto. So heres hoping that they do to keep the game alive!

again sir you are correct.

I still want to see how it stacks up when the magazines are able to zip around some tracks and get some lap times.

Sure modded vs stock, always a good comparison!

Yeah, the 14.4 time is bad, but it will be slower than the manual. It was probably a flat 14 run. The stock auto tune is extremely soft, after my tune I shaved 0.4 seconds off my 0-60 times, the 6R80 can shift hard and fast. The 6L50 just needs a tuner that isn't scared of a hard shifting auto.

Interesting what is happening to the segment. We have great handling muscle cars now. Ford now invested in an IRS and beefed up the 5.0 a little bit so the performance would stay on par with the weight gain. Chevy released the 1LE Camaro to show that they can make the Camaro handle for only $3500 bucks and handle it does. The question is where do we go on powertrains. We have already seen what is coming from the LT1 with the new stingray vette. I would anticipate the gen 6 Camaro SS to weigh 100-200lbs less and have 440-450hp, 440tq bone stock. Intake, LT headers, Tune and you are almost 500hp at the crank. I wonder what Ford is up to. Not sure how much more they can do to the 5.0. They are gonna need a bigger engine bay for a 6.0L DOHC engine. :-)

Love it! This actually made me laugh out loud, and the receptionist want to know what I was doing in my office!
