My dads GSX was definately my first drool fest.

The car that really brought it out of me was the Grand National though.

I can't really pin it to any one car. As a kid, I remember a late-30's or early 40's Ford in the garage, but the driveway saw a 70 Chevelle, 69 Cutlass S, and a 60's Ford intercepter. Neighbor's boy's had a mid-60's Mustang and 1st gen Camaro, 3 doors down they always had a convertible Fairlane (must have had half a dozen of them). Back then these were all just used cars, but they were cool. Of course, these were balanced by the Vega's, Monza's, Pinto's, Granada's, and Cordoba's of the time, so the good cars really stood out!
I remember really digging the Mach 1 and just about every metal-bumpered Vette on the road. Must have drawn a thousand of each on ruled paper in the classroom. I had a 66 Nova as my first car - it was a wreck. Replaced it with a 73 Pontiac Ventura that I turned into a wreck. Wow, way off on a tangent. Not brand loyal these days, just driven by the cars.

Been thinking about it and the 79 Turbo Capri is the car that got me interested in speed. The first time that turbo kicked in (and this was in 87) was the first case of autogrin I had)

I have always been a car nut. I can remember when I was little telling my mom that when I grow up that I wanted a black 57 Chevy with flames and a blower sticking through the hood with big tires in back and skinnies in the front. My parents used to go drag racing in my dads Barracuda when they were dating (mom ran in the Powder Puff class) and would take me to the same track were I eventually ended up making passes down. My nextdoor neighbor had a Camaro drag car that I would draw him pictures of and I love the smell of Race Fuel!!!

1996 Z28 vert. There was a Matchbox rendition of the car (metallic green) on my 12th birthday cake (stfu) that looked like a streamlined bullet. Right away I yanked it off, cleaned it up and quizzed my Dad on what kind of car it was. My entire vehicular interest spawned from that Matchbox car. Camaro paved the way to preoccupation with little, 1/4 inch tracks of icing. Who knew?

I was born into loving cars. My Dad worked for Jim Hall (Chaparral Racing); my playground growing up was the garage and the track.

A 68' Camaro! She was my pride-and-joy for five years. I rebuilt her from the subframe to the firewall, but I ran out of time and money to finish. She was what started my love of Camaro.
