OK so they will 'tighten' the gap in hourly wage but the gap in the VEBA costs are greater than that.
Yeah that one the union is fighting a lot harder but I think GM will probably pay half of what it was originally thought and once that is paid. The Big 3 will be on a pretty much level playing field vs the transplants when it comes to labor costs.

Gotta roll kylepo. This has kept me at the office. My wife left an hour ago and she's allready home and kinda pissed that I haven't left yet.

Glad we could be civilized. Later.

I happen to own 2 business and provide employment for 10 employees. One of those companies is losing money on a monthly basis, but I have not laid anyone off, nor am I asking for a government bailout. Just because I have a Z06 doesn't mean I am wealthy. But I have what I have because I worked my ass off for the past 28 years. If you want such luxuries, then work your but off and when you earn it you can have it. For those people that are unemployed, and don't have a 6 month rainy day fun, well perhaps they should have educated themselves and put themselves in a situation to live more within their means. Don't you realize that this entire economic situation stemmed from people living beyone their means and buying homes they could not afford.

Bottom line, if you want something, then work for it. Don't go around seeking to get it from someone else. I suggest you read some history and you will find out that what our govnerment is doing now has NEVER worked, and it won't work this time. I challenge anyone to show me where it has worked.
Add to that the Government forcing Fannie and Freddie to give out those loans too.. So is politics to some degree going to be allowed to be discussed? I don't see how it can be avoided in this case..

link to the 117 page report GM submited to the treasury. http://www.treasury.gov/initiatives/...turingPlan.pdf

I challenge the guy who called the plan half assed to read this report all 117 pages of it and say that comment again.

The whole point about the generational stuff was someone saying "our children and grandchildren are going to have to pay for it" and my response was that I AM on of those children/grandchildren and leaving GM out to dry and furthering this recession/depression/whatever would harm our generation greatly in the short term and the long term.

Right you are, but when do you say when I'm not sure? Just hoping the turn around is soon maybe a year or two.

dude...I agree..again...you are that generation...I said that. You are going to have to pay for AIG, Fanny, etc...that's what pisses me off. GM is 1/67 of the problem. The paper pushers...insurance, loans... they are the ones to point fingers at. GM ... with thousands of workers.. real jobs.. are getting all the bad press, while the paper pushers CEOs are gettin 5mil+ in bonuses. Media is centered on the big 3 car CO, but what about the losers who got 700 billion?

PS...ESPN...read TMQ....just sayin...

Well, I haven't read the 117 page report filed by GM asking for the bailout. However I for one was one of the people who felt GM should have filed for Chapter 11 before the first bailout and everyone was giving the same reasons back then as they are today for why GM should get bailed out. I do understand the struggle with the retirees and workers losing their jobs. What should have been done before is GM filing for Chapter 11 and the Government helping out the retirees who need their retirement to stay alive and in their homes and for the Government to help the workers losing their jobs to find new ones. This would have allowed GM to cut the ties with the union and legacy costs while they could have worked on a restructuring without Government control....
