138 hp isn't enough for an urban car that will likely weigh about 2800 lbs? Thats more than you get in the Cube and 4 shy of the Kia Soul Sport (and more than any other model) so its definitely not underpowered for the segment.

But many others would, the day they design a car to appeal to 100% of buyers is the day that mini-ice age freezes the fires below...Besides, small cars and trucks are in out future. GMC might as well get ahead of the curve.

The odd thing about all this is when I was buying my Cobalt, I wanted a small, useful, good-looking car. My options were very limited. With the introduction of the Aveo RS, Cruze, Granite, and Orlando...suddenly there are 4 cars I would have considered from one company had they existed two years ago. That's great, because this segment will mushroom in the coming years -- mark my words.

The Kia Soul sells well though because of price. Price, even more than styling, is the most important thing to a younger age demographic.

They need to keep that in mind if they make this thing.

I would consider one of those as a commuter beater. It looks far more interesting than the other cubical design vehicles, less wuss-like.

Absolutely. GM shouldn't give people the cars they might want, only the cars that they should want

A myth on the Xb is that it's a youth car. It's actual sales demographics are mid 40s.

That being said, every single sign on the wall says whether you like it or not- higher gas prices are coming. It's just a matter of time. I think we'd already have a gas tax if we didn't have the recession.

GM knows this and they have to design cars to fit reality. What's wrong with a small exterior big interior vehicle? If it gets >30mpg and it's big enough to stick a bike in the back without tearing it down, then I already know interested buyers.

How old are the children of people in the mid 40's? And how many of them can afford a new car by themselves, without help from Mom and Dad?
