After reading that list I would say , what make's you think they would cover a clutch with almost 10,000miles on a modded car when they wouldn't take care of problems with the car upon delivery.

Remember: first time shame on them; Second time shame on me

Yes, the Challenger SRT8 is looking very good, I would wait a year for the hype to die down and the new Motor\Tuning to be perfected thru fixing year-1 TSBs.

I know it's just the whole experience has sucked. If it was just one of the things I wouldn't be so upset.

I understand what your saying and that does suck ,but I can tell you if I had ordered that car and it came in damaged, ford would be taking care of it without question, or they would have kept it.

I've had a lot of problems with my camaro so far. It too is modded ,but I never one time had my dealer question anything. They just fix it.
Ford should take some advice from me even though I'm just a piss ant. If GM and my dealer wouldn't have came thru with the problems I've had, this car would be gone and I would never buy another GM product. So, on the other hand I can see why your upset. I just don't understand why you would expect Ford to take care of it when it doesn't look like they took care of anything else.

I know you don't want to reward Ford, but maybe you oughta take a drive in the new 2011 GT500 first....or go SRT8 Chally if you can't wait for the Z.

I wouldn't look at a 2011 GT500 even if you gave it to me right now....ok maybe if you gave it to me.

A tune and/or a pulley on these cars is the kiss of death to the warranty. I can also relate to you about them going on the internet and finding info on you and the car and using that against you. Like I said, live and learn. That wont happen to me again, I know better now. You will get it worked out one way or another and this will all be a distant memory.

Yes and has been well documented time after time with the 03 Cobra owners.

Anyone who thinks they are going to get warranty work after a pulley change with a blown car, without having to fight tooth and nail, really doesn't understand companies and warranties.

Ok, I have to jump in here. I had an 07 GT500 which I purchased with 1800ish miles in Oct of 08. By the time I hit 14k miles the clutch was slipping when I got on it (only when the SC engaged). I took it to the dealer and they said it was blown and that there was nothing they could do. There was a TSB issued for the early model 07's due to a poor flywheel which caused overheating and excess wear and tear. They admitted that but wouldn't cover it because my 3/36 warranty was out of date by 3 weeks. I fought with them high and low. They said it would be $3k to replace the clutch. I told them to go to hell (figuratively) and started calling performance shops. The dealer then called me and said they would do it for $1k... but so did the performance shop. They would install a Spec Stage 3 clutch and aluminum flywheel for around $925. I bit the bullet and bought the aftermarket clutch.

I learned 2 things:
  1. One, if your clutch is defective you better damn well pray it fails fast
  2. 6 puck clutches blow. They are extremely loud and if you try and slip it it makes a god awful noise.
Now, I was furious at Ford for not replacing my clutch but also at myself for not checking TSB's before I bought the car.

With that said... I am trading my Camaro SS in for a 2010 GT500 on saturday. I picked it up for $43-44k. Only option missing is HID lights :(

Do I blame Ford? No, even though my vehicle was 100% stock (I hadn't so much as replaced a light bulb), I don't blame them because I was out of warranty and the way things were going they couldn't afford to just be nice. However, they did knock 70% off the cost of an OEM replacement which was very nice.

In your case, you modded it. It failed, it sucks. I do think you overpaid for your aftermarket clutch but that's a separate issue. I have a hard time sympathizing with you... even though it happened to me on 100% stock car w/o a single drag run. Was your car under warranty? Yup, but there is no reason for Ford to take responsibility for parts designed and sold by someone other than them. That's bad business sense.

If they offered a special SVT warranty or something you could pay for... that's different.

I'm sorry about your car and wish you well in whatever you choose to drive in the future but live and learn.

A little off topic, but I replaced the stock clutch on my 2007 GT500 with a McLeod RXT clutch/pressure plate setup and I loved it. I never had any noise issues and the engagement was smooth as silk. I don't recall the differences between the RST and the RXT but maybe your real issues is the person who installed the new parts, not the parts themselves.

Based on my own experience, I would agree that, perhaps, the original unit on your 2010 was defective, as my car now has almost 19k miles on it and probably 9K of those miles have been at the current power levels. I'm still on the stock clutch and, knock on wood, it seems to be doing fine.

So you expect them to honor a warranty on a modded car especially after you have announced online that you have taken it to the strip..??

Anyone in their right mind would tell you to piss off.

I ended up having to install a McLeod clutch and flywheel because the OEM unit was on constant back order after waiting for months. I ended up with $1800 dollars in expenses taking away the down payment money for a 2011 Fiesta I planned to buy as a daily driver.

I went all the way to the top of the chain. I ended up dealing with Ken Czubay's team only to get a "free" extended warranty if I bought the Fiesta. I had my final conversation with one of his team members and a plant engineer today. They said because I had posted on the forms I had taken my car down the drag strip for fun at a track rental that I overheated it that day. Even though it was fine and didn't fail until and couple of months and thousands of miles later.

The bottom line is this. If you have any kind of fun in these cars Ford will look for anything to get out of assisting you. What’s the purpose of buying a Mustang for if you can only drive it like a Fusion? I went out of my way to buy this car earlier then I really could afford last year to help them out for not taking bailout money. This was supposed to be a dream experience for me and instead has been a nightmare. It's going to be hard for a loyal Ford guy leave but I'm so disgusted about this. Ford rather jump over a dollar to save a dime.

To all you Mustang posters on here be careful what you say online. Ford is watching....
I certainly wouldn't discount the entire "FORD" company because of this. Nearly every manufacturer has some clause in their warranty about performance events "voiding" certain aspects...but that does suck. I'm sorry to hear it. :(

Don't you think a Mustang should handle a few passes at the strip? I wasn't like I was launching it hard with drag slicks on.

I love how just taking it to the strip equals burnt clutch. Without actually watching some video how can they know the way I was doing anything was hurting the clutch?

Garagelogic has way more power then me and no issues. Sometimes you get a bad unit and I probably had one.

I agree, you probably had a bad clutch but you modded the car. They don't know what effect your mods, if any, had on your clutch. How can you honestly hold Ford responsible for parts they didn't design?

You can't be sure they didn't have an effect.
