I'm done with Ford

I decided to delete the original post because it doesn't clearly reflect what I was trying to communicate given some of the posts on here. Let me try again in more of a timeline.

I've had a number of issues with my car since I've owned it, all prior to mods except the clutch.

I modded my car at 7k with the equipment below in my sig.

I was invited by the tuner to a track event back in April because I wasn't happy with my numbers. He said the numbers at the track won't lie. I was trapping where I should be despite the lower HP numbers on the dyno he uses.

After the event I had no issues with the clutch and the car drove fine for a few months and about 2000 miles.

Right before Ford Carlisle in the beginning of June my clutch started to slip and real bad.

I took it into the dealer with all the mods on and told them what was going on.

The service manager was requested to take pictures of the car and clutch for Ford.

Via pictures only Ford determined the clutch failed because of my power modifications (only later to find out power wasn't the issue)

However, they'd be happy to install that same clutch back in. I tried to get answers from Ford because I was concerned about putting the same thing in and being back in the dealer 9k later.

After the car was in the dealer for 28 days waiting of the OEM clutch I decided to go with the McLeod because there was no end in site for the wait.

During this time I emailed the CEO of Ford and was directed to Ken Czubay's team. They only offered to give me an extended warranty on a new Fiesta I had ordered. That really didn't fix the current issue, just required me to spend even more money with Ford. Which I was planning to do but wanted some help with the GT500 instead. I really wasn't interested in the warranty offer.

The first McLeod was installed wrong and one of the discs was bent. The dealer thought it was ok, and it looked good in the pics. However, after physical inspection by the manufacturer it was determined the disc was bent. (Just an FYI had 700 miles on it and the head tech at McLeod said it looked like I drove it 7)

I tried to go OEM again but the unit was on backorder so I gave another McLeod a shot.

Well both McLeods made a lot of noise in 4th between 1500-1700 RPM. On the second unit the dealer tech, GM, and I road in it together before I took it home. The noise was still there and they both found it unacceptable. However, the car was safe to drive and they ordered yet another OEM unit that is on backorder until Sept 15. (FYI, McLeod has been great, top notch customer service!)

In the meantime I was trying to get more answers out of Ford. It seems they decided it would just be easier to have a team research me online and when I had my meeting with the SVT tech he started reading my forum posts back to me about the track event. I was really caught be off guard and I lost the focus of what I was trying to accomplish in the call. At least he did confirm what I was told through other sources that the OEM clutch can handle the power I'm putting down. Ken's team did offer to expedite an OEM unit for me.

Had they let me talk to a tech months ago and helped expedite the part I'd have been able to make better decisions and be out a lot less money. Instead I had to fight to get answers an a little patronage for my years of Ford loyalty and the other problems with the car. The fact that they were not very responsive to my requests right off the bat and made me play games to get some help really soured my opinion of the company.

I ended up having to install a McLeod clutch and flywheel because the OEM unit was on constant back order after waiting for months. I ended up with $1800 dollars in expenses taking away the down payment money for a 2011 Fiesta I planned to buy as a daily driver.

I went all the way to the top of the chain. I ended up dealing with Ken Czubay's team only to get a "free" extended warranty if I bought the Fiesta. I had my final conversation with one of his team members and a plant engineer today. They said because I had posted on the forms I had taken my car down the drag strip for fun at a track rental that I overheated it that day. Even though it was fine and didn't fail until and couple of months and thousands of miles later.

The bottom line is this. If you have any kind of fun in these cars Ford will look for anything to get out of assisting you. What’s the purpose of buying a Mustang for if you can only drive it like a Fusion? I went out of my way to buy this car earlier then I really could afford last year to help them out for not taking bailout money. This was supposed to be a dream experience for me and instead has been a nightmare. It's going to be hard for a loyal Ford guy leave but I'm so disgusted about this. Ford rather jump over a dollar to save a dime.

To all you Mustang posters on here be careful what you say online. Ford is watching....

FYI .. it isn't going to be just FORD ... you gotta watch what you say on the forums with ANY make if you want them to play nice ...

You gotta pay to play ..

Mitsubishi did this back in 03 when the Evo 8s were released... im sure they saved some money by owners who bragged on abusing their cars, but they got a bad wrap as well..

Isn't Subaru known for ding the same thing? What is the point of offering a performance car if you won't stand by it? That is a bad on Ford.

This is a good point and covers more than warranty, ie police using forums to catch speeders, streetracers, etc.

But is having a little fun on a open track day abusing the car? They have no problem letting the media do it on Ford's 2010 GT500 media day. False advertising anyone?

Trust me if I was full out drag racing the car every weekend I could totally understand and this wouldn't have been an issue. The bottom line is the GT500 isn't a go car it's a garage queen.

No but I did give my VIN to a guy on Team Shelby that was giving us production info on the cars. On top of that I was posing about my experience. Some searching and I'm sure it was easy for them to put two and two together.

how could they prove it was you that took the car to the strip... did you post your vin # or any facts they could tie together? I mean a simple user name, same location, pics of a blue/white GT500.... that could be anyone..

It does suck thou, you buy a "performance" car yet the expect you to drive it like a sedan... Like you said whats the point????

Ford, Chevy, any manufacture that does this is crossing the line. What do they expect people to do??

They only valid reason I could see them being able to void the warranty is if they could prove you modified the car... then that would be understandable..

I was told by multiple sources that the clutch can handle the power I was putting out. Including the plant engineer on the phone today.
