And by arguments, you mean quarter mile times. Pot, kettle, etc...

so you think if GM were to do a survey, ZL1 owners will say they bought the ZL1 because of the ring time? Sales war now?

Some magazine drivers got 12.7 with the Shelby, just like some guys have gotten horrible times with ZL1. Nine times out of ten down the 1/4 mile I would have my money on Shelby, but its times are not out of this world by any means.
That Engineer is a pro as well. Double advantage?

Indeed. I find it rather amusing that those who quote 'ring times as if they're the gold standard have likely never even been on a track with turns.

I'd be remissed to point out that the Ford boys used the same sorry excuse back in the late 90s when the Mustang GT was an absolute terd. Funny how things stay the same while changing at the same time.

"Our cars may be slower, but we sell a lot more of them!"

Honestly, you're drinking the kool-aid pretty hard if you refuse to accept the GT500 is quite a bit faster than the ZL1 - look at those traps.

Nothing fishy about VIR. If anything the day they had conspired against the car. As for Ring times, unless there is a big gap, which I doubt I wouldn't expect Ford to release ring times. We would advise our clients against a "me too" claim. Let the ZL1 have the Ring.

So you expected mid to low 11's right out of the gate. Well this is the forum that thought the ZL1 would run 11's right out of the gate so no surprise

No kidding. This is the first day that someone other than someone affiliated with Ford has driven the car. It's a bit premature to declare it a disappointment IMO, especially one car that's being repeatedly ragged out on a drag strip.

Well the ring time one turned into 1/4 mile runs. So what's the difference?

At least this is a VS thread so it kind of suits to talk about it all between these two find cars.

lol the car has been out for less then a day... I think you will see mid 11's on stock rubber no problem. and close to 10's if not 10's on DR's

Also the 11.9 run by GM pulled a 1.6x 60 foot time. If you don't think that wasn't on DR's... you are either drunk or have never been to a track

Hennesey got a 12.2 with the ZL1, and GM Engineers got a 11.9. A pro driver on a prepped drag track got a 11.8 with the Shelby and the Ford Engineers (observed) got a best of 12.06 @ 121. Again yes the Shelby is faster, but its not that serious. If Ford was soo sure they could bury the ZL1 why did they not bring one? Or they could have brought a Z06 if they could not find a ZL1??
Ford's ZL1 order was on a QC hold. Then they were bumped to a '13 car.

I am sure the Mustangs they brought to the track were not fresh off the line? Now it may take customer's mustangs some time to get better and better, but these were most likely Ford Test Cars?
