Here is my take on it. Evan did a great job of running this car for all it's worth, as he had with the 11/12 model. They put up a very good number, but in reality it is maybe 2 tenths quicker than the ZL1 is and about the same over the 12 GT500. I have to say it but I was fearing much worse especially when I found out who was driving, I figured easy 11:50s-11:60s out of the car. It still may do that number in better conditions.

The only way we will really find out how close these two cars are is on the same track, same day, same skilled drivers running them. I suggested on the SVT site, how about a shootout between MM&FF, and GM High Tech running these cars together. Would make for great reading.

I'm curious what the non-Evan times were for the car, this may give us a better estimation on what you would expect to see on the street or local strip. I would bet Evan was probably 2 tenths quicker than everyone else there.

Here is what a C5 member posted here today in the thread that got closed.

My best friend Chris Jacobson and I, were there for Chevys behind the scenes at the drag strip. The 11.9x times the engineers got, we're both on fresh Nitto Drag radials, which we both do not know why they did not mention this at the end of there video. Yes, they were stock, but with Nitto DR's. The best times they were seeing on street tires, was mid-12's.
Preach brother haha.

And @ Newmoon, thank you for being level headed. Once these two cars run side by side, same day, same track, then there will be no doubts. Hopefully it will create a gravity to pull some people back down from their orbit around the sun.

Engineer got an 11.8 in the morning as well before they did the launch control testing. Smith never got a cool car all had at least 30 passes on them before he drove. So 11.8, 11.81, 11.89, and 11.9 were best times at 121-123 mph

Ouch.

Why can't people be rational about this. ZL-1 traps 115-117. GT500 traps 121-123 on the first day of public testing with a 2,000 DA and hotlapped cars.

662-580 is still 82 hp
4150-3850 is still 300 lbs
123-117 is still 6 mph.

Undeniable facts.

It seems here we're in some kind of time-space vortex, where the laws of physics are slightly altered.

They had something like 25 or 30 Mustangs there, why did they just not give him a cooler one?? There were Magazine drivers and Ford Engineers but the best time observed was (Ford Engineer)12.06 @121 mph. The times from the Magazine people were not even brought up. Then later some one said a Ford Engineer got a 11.8 in the morning

Why are you comparing the best time to date for the ZL1 (From GM supposedly on stock tires yet know one has re-produced yet) to the GT500 that has been out for hours now? The ZL1 is not a constant 12 flat car. Its going to vary from 12.3-12.5 for most owners. Look at the times that have been posted so far stock?

Just like I said when the ZL1 came out, give it time and let the owners get some seat time in the GT500

All I know is a 11.8 at 123 is a bit better then the ZL1 best time its first day out

Pretty early on they said 11.8 in the morning. So 2 have gotten that time.

Is the 13-500 a consistant high 11 - 12:00 car?

Just like I said when the ZL1 came out, give it time and let the owners get some seat time in the GT500

I agree 100% and stated that above

All I know is a 11.8 at 123 is a bit better then the ZL1 best time its first day out
Where is anyone argueing these points? I think all in here have said the 500 is faster, really the SVT forum gang is in here fighting with themselves

The times for the ZL1 (its first test) were all rubbish due to where they tested the car. That being said the corrected times (Ignition Video) were under 12 seconds. Hennesey got a 12.2 with the ZL1, and GM Engineers got a 11.9. A pro driver on a prepped drag track got a 11.8 with the Shelby and the Ford Engineers (observed) got a best of 12.06 @ 121. Again yes the Shelby is faster, but its not that serious. If Ford was soo sure they could bury the ZL1 why did they not bring one? Or they could have brought a Z06 if they could not find a ZL1??

Launch Control times were not good like 12.7, but they were just trying the system out or something like that.
