Not trying to be a d$&k, it's just the best you would do is split Camaro volumes and give both a crappy business proposition. You would want the same powertrains right?

It took effort and bad decisions to kill Oldsmobile, Olds died because GM designed cars in the late 80's and 90's that people didn't think were worth buying, unattractive, low quality and buy the time GM finally came out with a somewhat decent car it was too late. this is a nice quote that I found Why did Olds die? One Wall Street analyst said (of Olds' demise), "GM doesn't have too many divisions. They have too little imagination." Jerry Flint, a noted auto analyst who writes for Forbes, cites indistinguishable styling, uninspired engineering, inexperienced leadership as reasons for Olds marketplace failure. Says Flint, "Oldsmobile has had 6 managers in 13 years - is that any kind of continuity? And the last one had no experience in the car business - her last job was heading up brand management for Alpo dog food." GM neglected the Olds Brand and as a result they killed the Oldest car company. |

True ! And GM said that it was going to be just a two year run before they brought them over to the U.S.! They were just trying to help get rid of them for the Australia division!

To be honest, the inside of my 2012 Camaro is much more reminiscent of the '68 to '72 GM A-Body (the Chevelle/GS/GTO/4-4-2 platform) than a first Gen Camaro. When I'm in my car, my brain says "Chevelle". When I'm out of it, my brain says "Camaro". Not a bad problem to have.

You may be an Olds lover but GM spent a crap load on the Intrigue and Aurora, both pretty good cars, that couldn't save the division. Quoting a Wall Street analyst is fine. Another opinion. I say they made a valiant effort that was rejected by the consumer. That is far more simple and factual than the number of divisional managers. Sorry, but I was there. I saw it. I lived it. I felt it and for me the demise of Oldsmobile was personal. A Wall Street analyst opinion for me is BS. They tried along with keeping Pontiac alive and trying to fight the Japanese with Saturn. They failed and 20/20 hindsight is most assuredly a perfect analysis of what should have been done.

I lived through it as well have owned 10 Cutlass's over the years as well as Delta 88 from 70-82.
I was a Olds Die hard as well as a member of the local Olds Club, so it was personal when GM shut the doors on Oldsmobile. I worked at a Chev/Olds dealer for a couple of years just as the 80's came to a close, GM was in my family's blood but in the 90's it became clear that Olds was moving in the wrong direction, the money that GM put into Saturn could have been used in R&D for the other divisions and from what I have found they never made a profit with Saturn. GM would need to come out with a Chevelle or Buick GN 5 seat 2 door that I can fit in if they want my business. |

I think GM will consider any options that will make them money. Bringing back a Chevelle could be an option that proves to be lucrative for them.
There are a lot of people that would love the idea of a Chevelle as long as it's done right. |

In my eyes the chevelle peaked in the early 70s and died from there on. And lets be totally honest while we're at it. GM does not need another car line introduced. The reason they started to go under was because of how thin they spread themselves. Stick to what you know and perfect it. Hell if it were up to me I would dissolve GMC into Chevrolet. The two brands share way too many model bases/looks. |

GMC is basically a huge printing press pumping out dollar bills for GM. Not to mention almost a quarter of GMC sales are high ATP Denali models.
