There are some areas in town here where the only parking available is parallel parking. Just telling the OP that it's a handy tool to have for it.

The reason you see us all posting about parking on the far end of parking lots is only partly to protect from dings...it's also a hell of a lot easier in terms of visibility :P

I understand that and agree with you. My point is that if you have something that makes it fool-proof, don't be a fool.

My wife has already banged up every wheel.

Op, all you got to do is buy all of erik13's rims, and then you can use those to practice. he probably wants an excuse to buy new ones

5000 miles and I still can't tell where the right side of the car is! Even pulling up to gas pumps is a challenge; I think I'm pretty close, get out to put in gas, and find I'm six feet away from the pump. I still find getting into the middle between the lines of a straight-in space to be a challenge, much less parallel parking. Small price to pay compared to all those "What a gorgeous car" comments, I suppose.

Practice man, practice. If you need help with some visual indicators on the car to judge distance- bottom of the mirrors, centerline of the hood, etc, let us know and someone will spell it all out here.

Thank you very kindly. I have to admit I'm exaggerating for effect, but only slightly. The convertible's rear quarter visibility (or lack of) makes things a bit worse when backing and parking. I have rally stripes which help greatly in judging position on the road, otherwise it think it would be very hard to visually pick out the center of the hood. Good tip on using the mirrors, I'll give that a try.

It's been pretty easy for me, my car stays parallel parked on the street so I have to do it everyday multiple times. Tilt your mirror all the way down (if you have a hard time seeing your mirror roll your window down) and find your reference points. My reference point is the my back wheels fender (Am I describing that right?) once my fender overlaps the curb (from my point of view) I am just the right amount of space from the curb.

I DID IT!!!!!

Using the same parallel parking strategy i learned when i was 16 and using the back-up camera it was easier than i thought.

i ended up about 8-10 inches from the curb!
