GM gets the power to the ground with the ZR1 with freakin' 335 wide ultra grippy summer tires and an awsome drive train.

All of us Mustang dudes are still baffled of why Ford couldn't, like GM insists on, having wider tires manufactured for the high performance end of their Mustangs. We all realize that the Corvettes are a different design as a sports car, but Ford still insists on using the limited range of tire width available in 27.5 ish tire height ranges. Adapt the axel/wheel mounts and have a tire made. Please. Erik

PS The Viper looks insane, and they got it down to 3300lbs. Sweeeeeeeet!

Despite the seemingly small tires (I'm aware of SVTs take on the 285 issue), I think if I was in the market for a 2013 GT500, I wouldn't do anything at all to it except buy a nice set of drag wheels w/skinnies up front. Then I would just flog the hell out of it at the track until I couldn't get anymore out of it and see where I ended up.

Im saying the 662hp version will get a hero run of 10.50 or lower. Thats pretty close to ZR1 times with a tire. What it will not match is the 135mph trap.
10.8 is my guess.
Compare the fastest stock Z06 to the fastest stock ZR1
That 133hp isn't doing a ton.

Z06
1~~~~ 10.715 130.32 1.60 Ranger ~~~~~ 2006

ZR1
1~~~~ 10.260 135.35 1.52 Fartpipe ~~~~ 2009

Now thats almost a half second difference which is pretty big tho I agree I would expect it to be a little more. I know once et's get this low the 100hp=1sec rule is out the window. But going off of this then the new shelby should be able to knock off a 10.6 with the power gain (roughly). What baffles me about these vette times is that the Z06 runs 130mph with a tire and the ZR1 with a tire runs about the same minus the ONE car that did 135. Some were even slower @ 128mph.

Whats also weird is that the bolt on record for a Z06 is quicker than the internal engine modification Z06. Weird stuff that just doesnt add up.

50 to 100k isn't cross shopping. I would buy two cars for 50k before I would by any one at 100k.

Besides the ZR1 vette is way out of the GT500's league and so is the price.

As far as the better buy that's a toss up if you consider what both cars can out run for the money they cost.

Ok, I find it hilarious that folks are judging the ZR1 based on solely 1/4 mile performance... LOL.

ZR1, but why waste all the talents of a ZR1 on just going straight? anything with big power and traction can go fast in a straight line. I mean guys run 10's in honda civics but who cares? LOL

how about ZR1 vs GTR?

And to be honest, I wouldnt compare the GT500 with the ZR1
GT500 vs ZL1
ZR1 vs Ford GT

Man, ive been waiting for a post like these. Have alot of JDM buddies who drive POS civics which I admit, are crazy fast, but in the end theyre driving a Civic.
ZR1 is a beast on the track and ring times prove it.
Who owns it now, is it the ACR or ZR1? I know they each had their title at one point

The new ACR will crush the ZR1 at the ring. Hell, the old viper ran a 7:12 without any computer assistance, which the new one is loaded with. ZR1's current time is 7:19.

Edit: maybe "crush" is a little harsh. We are only talking about a couple seconds on a 7ish minute lap...lol.
