these are two completely different cars, and the comparison is pretty much ridiculous.

the ZR1 would win. It down about 30hp but has a tire advantage, weight advantage and aerodynamic advantage. no contest.

Yes the ZR1 is a lighter weight 2 seat sports car with a lower center of gravity and a better width to height ratio. It is in the performance class of other far more expensive two seat super car sports cars.

The 2013 GT500 is a sports coupe, and has been made far faster and more nimble than anyone ever expected just 5 years ago, let's face it. The 2012 ZL1 and 2013 GT500 are so far beyond what anyone thought they would be just 4 years ago, for sports coupes. Way beyond in my opinion. Erik

Why would anyone compare these two? The zr1 will have much better performance figures all the way around. New viper or zr1 is a much better question....

For the record if I am buying a vette I would take the Z06!

I agree. Don't bash ford guys. If it wasn't for fords rivalry of the two is what makes us better. I hate to say being a very big Chevy fan. But we need ford just like they need us. Respect

I gotta say, a few years ago you didnt really have people comparing the ZR1 with the GT500. Now you hear it quite often, shows how far it has come in 13. With 2 extra seats to boot.

They are compared because of hp. There is no way they will be close. They may be within a second in the quarter.

They will be much closer than a full second in the 1/4. I didnt realize the record for the current GT500 with just a slick/dr in 11.11 sec. Now think what that car will do with a extra 112hp. Im saying the 662hp version will get a hero run of 10.50 or lower. Thats pretty close to ZR1 times with a tire. What it will not match is the 135mph trap.

We will have to wait and see really. If ford really figured out how to get the power to the ground it will be nasty. Guess a insider over at svt posted over on mustang source ford got it down so no crazy wheel spin.

His post
"believe it folks. This car is the real deal.

You will start to see more about 1/4 and other performance metrics soon enough, and you won't be disapointed (read: its not a total wheel spin fest)"

I did, I just ended up with the Z06 instead.

The more difficult question for me would be ZR1 or new Viper?
