I don't know how excited you guys are, I am super thrilled. The Z and the camaro -- MY TWO MOST favorite cars. I am very satisfied with the 370Z performance so far and I can't wait to see the new Camaro on the road. |

The 370Z has a very real chance of being my next car except I don’t know how I’d feel about my “sports car” being slower than my DD. Of course that’s 4 or more years away and that’s a lifetime when it comes to cars.

What do you call the Corvette? The Nissan is just smaller, and less powerful. fwiw; I never accepted the comparisons with the Camaro...completely different cars, imo with only a pricepoint to share. 2 seater v 4 seater, V6 v. V8....The list goes on...

The Z fits into a spot that GM doesnt have much for. They dont have a sports car that can compete with the Z for the 29k-37k price bracket... As great as the Corvette is... its doesnt even START till 50k, a good 20k more than the Z.

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

Keeping that in mind ( ), I think all of this discussion proves that the Camaro is the better vehicle. Of course I'm biased -- but the Camaro has to deal with almost 30% more heft, 2 extra seats, a larger engine, and a larger body in general. Even if it only manages to stay on the Nissan's tail -- that's exceptional. And makes it by far the better buy in terms of practicality v. performance. (again, imo) Fwiw; I expect it to be an outright driver's race.

I hear you...I think the ss should be faster but I think the body roll will kill it in the end. All things concidered the ss is the better buy but the Z does offer a driving expirience that is on par with Porsche.

The Z is nice, but it's just not very practical. A good weekend car, but I need something that can double as a DD, hence why I am looking at Camaros and Challengers.

The corvette is in a class of its own....actually in a class with the 100k sports cars. the Z doesnt even compare to it. but your right, the vette is relatively affordable against what it competes with. i just dont see myself being able to afford one anytime soon.

*lightbulb* Have you seen the video where the engineer IVER driver threw a prototype SS around Milford? I've never seen someone drive quite like that...anyways, he was tossing that car into TIGHT 360s, and turns....unless my eyes deceive me...very little (if any) body roll. I feel like whoever started that rumor/impression was overstating the fact by a sizable margin. Still...suppose you're right and it handles like a Challenger - that's nothing $1000 worth of Pedder's merchandise can't fix.

Oh it will be better than the chally, but the source of MY concerns are a combination of Dale Jr. commenting specifically on the presance of body roll and the comparison of the G8 GXP and the Charger SRT where they made it known the G8 suffered from body roll.

Why would they have Dale Jr. test drive a car that didn't accurately represent an accumulation of their efforts? Think about it, he's only gonna be there a hand full of times tops... So you mind as well give him a car that might have X wrong with it, which he can help with instead of a car with X, Y and Z wrong with it where there is too much for him to focus his efforts. Plus i find it to be more than a coincidence that the G8 GXP (which rides on the same platform) suffers from body roll enough to make it a problem. I am anxiously waiting on the test from the SS, and really this is all speculation. But it would shock me to not find 'body roll' written in the test article somewhere.
