I had no idea raped ape's were the units of measurement for drag racing.

Yeah, they started using the ape measurement when the "Scalded Cat" went out of vogue

This is what people are talking about. The Nissan does not have this pedigree. Also, the Nissan makes bold claims of it's track prowess and ability to launch 0-60 in under 4 seconds. However, do so and you will void your warranty when it breaks. Further: Nissan uses GPS to track your car. It breaks on a racetrack...your warranty is VOID. So, go ahead and take your GT-R V-spec to the Nurburgring and Tie a ZR1's time. Just pray is doesn't break. GM will fix your ZR1 and Ford will fix your Mustang...however, Nissan will take your Yen and walk. Great performance car. For something that is meant to be a garage ornament brag piece, its not even sexy to look at. The Corvette, the Camaro, The Mustang, The Challenger...on a rainy day I could sit and sip a beer and at least look at them. The GT-R is just ugly from all angles.
Both Ford and Chevy will void your warranty if they know you were racing at a track when the vehicle broke.

That is like me talking about john force's mustang and how it has dominated at the dragstrip and asking what has the camaro done.
actually there was a recent article done showing that the corvette you find in dealerships is closest to its racing counterpart than any other car. let me go look for that

I agree that it shares a good bit. But still nothing like the production brethren.

I think you just like to argue...what is your point? GM builds a car that is NEARLY a carbon copy of it's C6-R racecar for the street that you can go buy right now at your local GM dealer. GM has backed up it's race performances with a car you can buy.

Nissan does not offer the same pedigree, yet states it builds a supercar. I call BS on Nissan. Sure, they build a car that performs...but have NOTHING to back that up other than one trip around the track. GM, FORD, Porsche, BMW, Jaguar, Ferrari, Mazda - All Race and offer you - the consumer - a car that is as close to a racecar for the street as you can get...all with a warranty. Nissan tracks your car and tells you "NO WARRANTY" when it breaks. I think that sucks. They do not deserve the hype.

And look through some of the forums : Corvette owners have had transmissions and clutches warranted after a track failure. Nissan has SEVERAL lawsuits by customers that broke cars while trying to back up Nissan's claims that were NOT warranteed.

well considering you don't have to buy a $20,000 transmission or 2 I'd say you're getting better value on the dollar with the Chevy

Definitely the rules really restrict GM's 5.5 from making more power.

Personally, I hate the GTR styling. It reminds me of an '80s car that evolved without ever having a full model replacement. It's just an ugly car to me. I'd love to drive one and see what all the fuss is about though! I can't imagine it being the same kind of experience as a ZR1. If you could just get all that power and torque in a ZR1 under complete control, you would be way ahead of the GTR. Chevy did a better job in the 2010 ZR1 than they did in '09. Maybe the '11 or '12 will be under better control? We'll see!

There was a recent article in one of the car rags comparing the "stock" cars to their "race" counterparts. The ZR1 was the BEST in terms of how close it is to its "race" counterpart. If you can't find it, I will try to find my copy to provide the info. The GTR is a nice performance car, but it's just too robotic and the body styling is just simply ugly. I wish Inifiniti would put together a special G coupe with this drive train.
