Stopped by Impact Guns this afternoon. The sign outside said "Crap Loads of AR-15s". Thought they were kidding. They had a bunch of Bushmaster ARs for $1300 with scope and sling.

A uniform and patches and a badge is accepted by most as a security guard, or a law enforcement officer.

When joe schmoe walks into a Target store with a 1911 on his hip, the regular people around here in MN freak out.

Granted we have a very liberal concealed carry law, basically anyone can get a permit if you aren't a nut job or a felon. And that law allows open carry as well. Just anyone with a brain wouldn't open carry because it causes to much attention.

Just try an open carry run to the grocery store if it's legal in your state and see that reactions you get. (Granted in TX, AZ, NM, etc it may be no big deal)

And I would stand by the fact that if crazed gunmen/ robber/ shitbag, enters a place and sees an open carry, that person will be the first target.

I get that people have the right to open carry, and if that's what you want to do, then go for it. Just be sure that your holster is secure.

I simply choose to fly under the radar and not advertise that I have a gun on me nearly all the time. (Doesn't make me right or wrong, just my choice)

Here's the latest addition to my collection :

I bought it back in September before all the hysteria. IMHO it shoots much smoother than my DPMS.

I was pretty pleased to get this today. Midway says it is following the Academy road. Limiting quantity but not changing prices. Either way, Midway > CTD.

For the fans of the 1911 Semi-Autos, here is my latest purchase.

Coonan Classic 1911 .357 Magnum... yes the infamous .357 Magnum in a Semi-Auto configuration.

Have not shot it yet so no range report for now but all i've read so far seems to be promising. The last photo below is actually of Dan Coonan himself, the mastermind of the .357 Magnum Automatic Pistol.

And this is why Midway will get my money and why Cheaper than Dirt won't get a dime anymore!
