I have heard that the company that owns Chrysler also has partial onwership of GMAC. I heard that they will trade Chrysler for the rest of GMAC.

Also, I heard that if GM does get Chrysler, that they would keep the minivans and something else (I can not remember right now), but get ride of everything else.

Jeep was the other one.....Cerberus (owns 51% of GMAC)is also trying to obtain "bank" status so they can get in on the bank bailout money. But rumor is, the Feds aren't likely to grant bank status unless GM owns less than 25% of GMAC. So I'm sure there will be some horse trading going on.

depending on the climate caused by whomever gets elected they may not need or want to get merged or they may want it more.

Yes, because the candidates will promise more now, before one of them gets elected. They're pushing hard to do it before next Tuesday.

Dragon - Good point that these are loans, I had forgotten that.

Dragon, I know they weren't gifts; I never said they were. Just saying that with all the money the government is throwing around, we don't need to take loans in a new direction.
