Some of these prices are terrible. Over most of the summer, we were paying $4.50 for regular, and over the last month or so it's come down to $3.6X; that's what I paid yesterday - Sacramento.

Gotta love the fact that consumers drive the prices up with thoughts of higher gas prices causing artificial shortages...

5.18 in houston. freaking ike. it was like 3.80 but then overnight it went up a dollar and then another like thirty cents after the hurricane. no station has gas so whenever they get gas the line to wait in is like a mile or so long. luckily i have friends who work at the gas stations. so they have been calling me and i get there a little before the tanker finishes unloading and right before the lines start piling up.

Looks like it could get worse before it gets better in the east.

As of 11:45 AM September 15, Colonial Pipeline’s gasoline line is operating intermittently while they await product injects. Their efforts are focused on retrieving barrels from storage until Louisiana refineries can supply new production. No barrels are being pulled from Texas storage until generators begin supplying electricity to the Beaumont terminal.

Quote:
Even when refineries have power and are back to normal operations, there’s still going to be a few weeks of additional pain for drivers in other parts of the country. That’s because it takes 18 days for gasoline to wind through pipelines from Texas to New Jersey. The U.S. can’t import enough gasoline to cover the shortfall in the meanwhile.

Remnants of Ike blew through here and nearly all of the city lost power. Much of the city is back up though big chunks are still without electricity as well as some outlying areas...a neighborhood a few blocks over from me and beyond that for 3 miles is all without power. Gas prices went nuts when only a few stations could open because of the power problems, but have leveled off...it's about $4.09/gallon here now. With the city still cleaning up storm damage and hosting the Ryder Cup this weekend, gas prices are probably not dropping for a little while.
