Seems like Grand Canyon is being mentioned a lot...so I'll continue with it! South Rim has a good trail that goes deep down into the canyon, but it will take a few hours to get to the bottom. Its pretty cool if you go when there is snow and its one heck of a drive.

San Francisco was also mentioned and its actually a pretty good place to go site seeing. I went with my girfriend and we had a blast! Japanese Tea Gardens and Alcatraz...good places.

Solvang, CA is a nice, quaint town. Lots of shops and is meant to resemble a Swedish town.

The Royal Gorge Bridge in Colorado. Great place to take some amazing Camaro pictures. It is the highest suspension bridge in the world.

I wouldn't suggest trying to sleep in an Eclipse in by the Grand Canyon when it is barely above freezing. Kind of hard to snuggle in those things. I'd like to make the trip in my Camaro...which should be here today!

Otherwise, make the Lake Michigan Circle Tour (Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan), very cool drive!
That sounds awesome.. I'm liking that idea a lot

But then:
*Yellowstone Nat'l park plus Grand Tetons (see both sides). Yellowstone Park really is pretty cool.
*A puddle jumper flight into any national wilderness area- there are hundreds- but being 100 miles from a road of any kind. I like to go to Frank Church Wilderness on the Continental divide personally- but it's more the idea of being so far away from everything but still in the U.S.
*San Juan Islands Washington to see the Orca's plus Olympic National Park- which is a true rainforest and it's pretty much 100% green. Everything, rocks roots- everywhere. Have you ever stared at something green then you look away and see a red afterimage? On a bright day you get that there.
*Alaska- Denali Nat'l Park. and Kenai Fjords. If you hunt and or fish, there are a whole bunch of other areas to recommend.
*Needles and Moab (pretty close to grand canyon). Mountain Bike in Moab if you can. Moab is sort of touristy now for bike riding, but it's still amazing.

I don't know, list kind of goes on and on . I want to go to Area 51 too lol- just so I can say I've been there.
I like some of those ideas and ALASKA.. I completely forgot about that distant land lol...

You all have been great with suggestions.. Its amazing all the places people are from and different suggestions and stuff around the US. I may not have quoted/replied to everyone but I pretty much saved the entire thread to my documents and im organizing now like ways to meld a few states / locations into several trips and stuff... This is a great thread for others who want to do traveling. I am sure others will find some great information here. There were many ideas here that I never even thought of.. Thanks again all of you

Its Mt Mckinley, I am sorry its always been that way, just because they changed the name doesnt mean that we have to call it that.

Sorry I was born in Ft Wainwright & use to go camping & what have you around that Mountain. some of my fondest memories, were either camping or on bus tours around the park.
