Pricing is going to be a big factor with these trucks. However if they offer a compelling enough alternative to a full size in fuel economy or other features, it might not be as big an issue as with the GMT-355s.

Still curious to see if that Maxima-ish thing will show up.

As a Colorado owner, i'm interested. I don't really need a full size but would like to upgrade. A diesel would push me over the edge (provided it's considerably cheaper than a full size and has a MT option).

Fen,
Don't they already have a diesel overseas in the global truck that could bolt right up? What are the specs?

Yes. Holden just updated it actually.

It's a 2.8L Turbodiesel rated at 197 HP and 368 lb ft of torque.

One of our Australian guys at GMI did a test and achieved around 27 MPG with mostly highway driving.

If it truly ends up being car engines in this truck the diesel seems like it will be the best option - any word on transmission - 8 speed :O ?

just looking a prices real quick a quad cab Silverado 4X4 1 LT is like 41K if a Colorado Crew Cab 4x4 isnt less than 35ish I dont see any reason to get Colorad over the Silverado
This is exactly what killed the Colorado/Canyon. It offered no real FE benefit to truly separate it from it's bigger brother.

Within a couple MPGs and a couple thousand $$ and the answer was just get the bigger one.

The motor selection was the biggest downfall of the Colorado/Canyon.

Which is why I'm confused by the trend towards 'midsize' trucks over 'compact' trucks. Seems to me that the people who want a small truck put a much greater emphasis on fuel efficiency & cost than they do on capability. But the bigger & more capable the truck, the less efficient & more expensive it gets. Sooner or later, they stray too close to half tons & the midsizer becomes rather pointless.

I can tell you right now I'm not interested in a compact truck whatsoever. I drove one through college and I have one for a work truck right now. Too damn small. I've been complaining to Tallahassee for months now that I need a larger truck.

Something that's just smaller than a full size with fuel efficient but still capable powertrains is exactly what I'd want.

I figure much like the "SS", The Colorado will look similar to the Holden version...
