That would be a good fit for it, but I've heard that they only plan on using car engines in these trucks.

Put the LFX V6 in it at least. 5.3 in a reg. cab option would be nice

I thought they were gone for good. Depending on style and price may be my next vehicle, would like another truck but have no need for a full size.

It would kinda be an embarrassment to GM's engineering team if they couldn't outdo those three.
These trucks should EASILY outdo the former generation, as well as Tacoma and Frontier in just about every possibly way...especially efficiency. I'm not saying that as some fan-boy....it just makes sense. Every truck in this segment is just wayyyy overdue for a big refresh or a new generation, and GM is first in line.

I believe these trucks need to do a few things first and foremost to be appealing and worthy as an option over the bigger brothers...and that's 1) Great efficiency in both the turbo 4 and 6 cylinder (and diesel if offered) 2) Priced to make sense 3) Look good and have a little sport in them not as much big truck look. After that then I believe comes work ability and interior/features.

If you need a truck to work...get a fullsize. These shouldn't be for you. But if your like me and use a truck bed fairly often, but you don't need to haul or tow big loads then this is your vehicle.

I drive a 2006 Colorado crew cab Z71 4x4 with the inline 3.5....basically the least fuel efficient version they made at the time and I manage to average 19mpg driving conservatively with my drive to work being around 60 - 70 % highway. I got that consistently over multiple fill ups. (Now that its cold out my mpg has dropped considerably to 17.5 - 18) but 19mpg average is damn good in my opinion on this truck.

Now there's no reason in my mind why I shouldn't be able to average at least 20 - 22 mpg or better in a similarly equipped new generation Colorado with a V6 engine. If you don't need or want the 4x4, then the 2wd will see even better mpg easily on a commute like mine. Maybe mid 20s. No fullsize with a V8 will come close to touching that. Of course the turbo 4 version should be slightly better.

Hoping for the best, b/c in a few years I can see myself in a newer more modern Colorado or Canyon.

Calling the 2500 all new is a stretch. Looking forward to the reveal.

Why? Pretty sure the only carryover items of any significance are the powertrains. And nobody expects an automaker to create a brand new set of engines & transmissions every single time they introduce a new vehicle.

To me powertrain is the most important part of a truck. They don't need to redesign engines every few years but they shouldn't say its all new with the same engine and tranny either.

I know its a long shot but i hope thses are priced better than they were before. For the price of the quad cab 4X4 you were better off spending a couple thousand extra for the full size.

This^ if a 4x4 quad cab is within a few thousand of a full sizequad cab 4x4 then I see no reason not to spring for the full size.

just looking a prices real quick a quad cab Silverado 4X4 1 LT is like 41K if a Colorado Crew Cab 4x4 isnt less than 35ish I dont see any reason to get Colorad over the Silverado
