but i'd be more concerned about lutz saying from the appointed fake ceo fritz that they can't produce this care because of the mileage standards....

that gets me fuming more than anything...all detractors can go to hell and i won't be specific as to not talk about politics but you know who i'm talking about...

That remains to be seen. We don't know what's going on, most of us don't anyway.

While I would have liked to see this, and can't associate any negative with the name Caprice ('cause I can't remember them)....it wasn't due for 18 mo. out anyways...there will be other vehicles, I'm sure of it.

EDIT: many folks mentioned the HHR in here...fyi, it should be replaced in a year or two with something closely resembling this:
Chevrolet Orlando

In fact, we’re moving so fast, we’re going back in time to, oh, about four or five days ago, when the Pontiac G8 was going away and was not going to become a new Chevrolet Caprice.

And therein lies the news: The G8 will not be a Caprice after all. I’d mentioned it, and said we were studying it, giving it a serious look, because a car like the G8 was just too good to waste.

That’s all still true. But I have to say that, with my new “marketing” hat on, upon further review and careful study, we simply cannot make a business case for such a program. Not in today’s market, in this economy, and with fuel regulations what they are and will be.

I know that we’ll get a lot of complaints from G8 lovers, because I’m one of them. And the product guy in me is complaining as loudly as anyone. But the marketing guy says there’s no case. With budgets being what they are for the time being, the resources must be allocated elsewhere.

In no way, and this is very important, in no way does this mean we are backing away from performance, or backing away from rear-wheel drive.

Look no further for proof than the Corvette, the Camaro, the CTS or many
other present and future Cadillacs. We have a strong lineup of RWD vehicles already and we will continue to have it.

And we have a tremendous RWD team in Australia that gave us the beloved G8, a team that we will tap into at some point again in the future for its expertise and sheet metal. Just not right now.

Almost as ugly as the HHR, They need the Camaro designer to lend a hand to this monstocity (I think he needs to be the farkin CEO). RETURN of the AZtek if you ask me. Now back on topic

I think it's a case of "Camaro" where this thing is concerned. That is, it looks much better in person. I haven't seen it yet, myself...but it got a lot of positive reviews from those attending the auto show. GM originally decided not to do it because "there is nothing else like it in the market"...but somebody wisely changed their mind, and it should be coming as a 2011 model.

It's a compact crossover seated on the Delta II chassis (Cruze) much like the HHR sits on the Delta platform (Cobalt).

I've owned 2 dozen Chevy or GMC trucks since 1989 and about 2 million trouble free miles, never so much as had to change spark plugs. We were working on my Dad's 66 Chevelle SS and 63 Chevy II as a biweekly ritual when I was a boy

Well dude, my POS cranks 250HP with a stage 2 kit and gets 33MPG. What the hell more do you want? WOnder what POS you are driving around that gets my kind of gas mileage. My sister bought an HHR because anm SUV or Crossover was too much for her budget and the HHR was the right size for her and her husband along with having the ease to pput up a dog fence in the back to drive around her Alaskan Husky. This car is a POS? Ok man, whatever you say!

It's also slated to hit upwards of 40 MPG and seat 7 people.

Function over form.
