Sorry not a fan of the cruze after driving a fully loaded top of the line unit for over a month. But you know everyone's different. Have her drive one. You know the old saying "there's a seat for every hiney".

Wrong. 42 MPG with the 6 speed manual. 39 MPG with the Eco Automatic.

The Saturn we traded in was a 2000 model with over 200,000 miles and it was still getting 36 mpg Hwy miles. She has 15,000 on the Cruze so I feel like that is enough to make a fair assessment. How many miles do you have on the Jetta TDI and what kind of mpg you getting? We actually drove one and considered buying one before we bought the Cruze. The Cruze had a few more bells and whistles so we bought it. I have been wondering if we made a mistake. For the record, I would not buy another Cruze due to the poor MPG.
Vast majority of Cruze Eco Manual owners are hitting 42 MPG and beyond.

It's not unusual to squeeze over 600 miles on 14.5 gallons. (B20)

It's the 5 DSG gearbox. (Jetta Wagon GLS) The manuals get slightly higher mileage.

Cruzes are very nice. My friend has a base LS and the quality of the interior is nicer than any other Chevy I've seen, even with just the LS. It's also really comfortable and the steering is awesome.

^ That video's so true. The way the door closes feels & sounds so good, haha.

That's what I was asking? How can a 2006 Jetta TDI be on it's last legs? That car if properly maintained should get you well over 200,000 miles and consistantly get you anywhere from 40-45mpg.

My 2003 Golf TDI only has 60,000 miles and 45mpg....every tank is over 600 miles

I'm not sure, I'm sure the dealer would know. Whether they would help you or not may be another question. Start a thread on here in your regional forum? Maybe someone knows.

I wish they'd make a diesel cruze here already.... I drove a new TDI Golf the other day.... I was impressed with that torque that little thing had... word is the new beetle's getting that engine next year too.... I really like what they've done with the new beetle.... I wouldn't be ashamed to be seen in it anymore

We bought a Cruze LTZ in April. Don't regret it. Fun car to drive and we get 30-32 mpg average

You'll like it fine until something breaks. This Jetta is the first and last VW we will ever own...many reasons...very long (and expensive) story. And don't kid yourself, diesel is a good bit more expensive than 87 and that eats up a bunch of the mileage gains. Also, my wife had to go to additives with every tank to keep a MPG in the high 30s.

She just drove the Cruze (at the same dealership I bought my Camaro) and loved it. We bought it on the spot...she picks it up Monday. We're not an all GM family but we're close (I'll probably never sell my old '92 Ford F150 str8 six).
