Oh you are so right...Money leads this discussion as was evident when OU said "Make it even Steven or we're gone" and in all honesty I can not blame them....That is kinda the reason you are in a conference, share the wealth. Unless you are Notre Dame and do your own thing.

I guess alot of parents, including me, want to be there for support and yes it is selfish in a good way, unlike so many parents today who are not involved in their kids lives.

I very rarely go to road game that Alabama plays unless it is a bowl game or something like Florida where my brother lives.

I thought alot on this subject when I watched the Little League World Series, thinking of the extreme cost some of these teams had to expend especially International Teams....I can only imagine if it were me.

Most of the bigger school fan bases have alot of loyal and rich supporters and they see road games as miny vacations, and we know that some parents get " Help", LOL, if they really want to see their kid, especially if he is a star player.

I have a friend who son plays on Auburn....He was redshirted last year so he could grow. They placed him on the practice squad to go up against the offense and defense. So he works all summer long, goes through all of fall ball and imagine that Auburn is going to the BCS N/C..........He was left at home by Auburn, he didn't get a ring(well three rings) and his parents paid for him to go to Arizona.

What really irritated me about this is water boys went and got rings, boosters went and GOT RINGS. Auburn had over 400 people in the official party to go to Arizona, but they left the practice squad out.......Just rubbed me the wrong way and another reason I hate Auburn. 12 boys were left out. I even offered to purchase the rings for him but was not allowed due to NCAA Rules, OMG!!!!!!! I talked with the kid after the game and when they were back in school, they had a team meeting and he was involved...they were measuring for rings and these 12 were left out.....I am still pissed about that.

Can you imagine of dreaming of playing college football, working your butt off on the scout team while being redshirted and not being allowed to go with the team, not being allowed on the field to celebrate when they win, or even getting a ring....especially when you have done nothing wrong, have a high GPA.........hmmmmmmmmmmm

Ok rant over, LOL

Holy crap. If you look around, there are stories about the remaining Big12 (after UT, OU, TT adn OSU would leave) to absorbe the remaining Big East, Notre Crap talking about the ACC....

Someone please explain to everyone in the big12 the longhorn network will not and can not show Highschool Games as its a UIL rule that HS games can not be televised unless its the playoffs. Geeze so many think this network that no one can watch is going to hurt recruiting lol

Everyone says Texas is favored by the commisioner ( dan beebe ) Then get a new one dam lol Lets add BYU as they nearly always have a better record than a&m did anyways.

This is getting old. When the ACC gets to 16 teams we will hear pac rethinks lol

I think the press just likes something to talk about.

Next we will hear OU going to SEC.

Looks like the Pac 12 ain't taking nobody else.....OU wants more defined rules for the LHN and wants Beebe out.

I think UT needs OU. And I think UT needs UT. If Texas ended up in a big 12 that featured Kansas St. and BYU as the second 'Big Dog' teams behind the Longhorns then Texas would all of a sudden be Boise St. Damn good team but plays nobody for competition.

Same with OU of course.

It would't be so bad if it were Iowa St. or Baylor leaving. But we are going to end up in a 9 team conference with NO competition. Call it the SoonerHorn conference.

I guess that's fine with me. UT and OU will get a Boise St. style pass to undefeated and unlike Boise it'll lead right into the NCG.

Oh I am sure there are back room deals being made right now over all this....When you weaken your competition it only hurts in the long run......Sure Boise St can beat A team every once in a while....like Georgia.....but back that up with LSU, Alabama, Florida....or Tx, OU, Ok State and I don't think they stand a chance to be consistently good like they are against Toledo, Tulsa etc.....

I saw a report yesterday somewhere that said that Texas would not budge on revenue sharing from the LHN...While it is their right to do this, if the Big 12 dissolves then they will become Notre Dame in my opinion.

PQ, "The University of Texas @ Norman" needs UT way more!! Recruiting in Texas would be hurt for UT@Norman if they are in two different conferences. Texas is the pool of talent that most are trying to swim in. OU would be hurt way more by not having the "Redriver Shootout" than Texas.

Dr. Jkel, big difference between UT & ND! See, UT is a top twenty-five program across all sports programs...Men's & Women’s (i.e..ESPN), ND is not. When you are a "Powerhouse" across the board....UT will have no problem finding "Game" (Independant, Big12, Pac12, ACC ...).
