I am always nice to police, even when they give me crap. Why? Because their job means that sometimes they might get SHOT as part of their job description.

I show respect for anyone who might have to die as part of their job to protect me and my family and give me the peace of mind to sleep at night.

And don't anybody dare say "oh, they're just doing their job. They aren't really heroes." Nobody is forcing them to do that job. Its a job that needs done and they're brave enough to do it. Doesn't make it any less heroic that they're getting paid for it. At least not in my book.

I put my keys on my dash and my hands visibly on the steering wheel, and don't root around in my pockets and glovebox for my license/registration/insurance until the cop is watching me intently, so that he doesn't think I'm trying to have a weapon ready when he walks up.

Do you know how much mercy I get? Zero. Every time, I get whacked with whatever the cop reasonably thinks he can give me. I must be ugly or something. Everybody I know always gets warnings or entirely let off, and I get all the tickets, even if I wasn't driving abnormally offensively.

People spend loads of time dangerously tailgating me wishing I'd go faster, because I usually try very hard to avoid a ticket, then on the rare occasion I drive more like others I get a ticket. I don't even have any modifications or damage that attracts attention to my cars! They are plain, no tint, all license plates present, etc.

I think it's not done on purpose; I think the cars that turn everyone else's heads also turn cops' heads. Then again, my efforts to drive unremarkable-looking vehicles don't seem to help me...
Ouch...that sucks.

Already had people try to do that. I pulled the pill bottle and saved it. We scraped the cocaine out of it...and got an arrest...hehehe...might not have been the full amount to get a higher penalty, but still, it was a felony!

Thanks. I pray to God every day for everyone's safety. But, it happens....Oakland. We lost two more officers at the end of last year in an auto accident. This is just crazy.... it's say, you know. The worst part? ...is when an officer dies in the line of duty and leaves 1, 2, 3 kids and a wife behind. That is sad....:(

Thanks. I don't call myself a hero over here. I just love doing my "job" catching bad guys. Man, this is a real game of "cops and robbers" and I get to play it every day catching the bad guys!

Now...there is this one prick who's broken into 3 houses in my neighborhood during the day time so far....and he'd better pray to God that he does not break into my house when we are home during the day...or night. This neighborhood hasn't had any issues for 4 years since it's been here...and all of the sudden, burglary after burglary.... I know it's the same group....and we'll get him....or them....

Good luck getting that guy, Tag. I am constantly praying for the safety of those who keep our society going; cops, firefighters, our servicemen & women, and everyone else involved in keeping chaos at bay.

Take care Tag (oh, and thanks again for the help you gave my son on his science project)

Would this be an appropriate thread for a pet soapbox issue of mine?

People who speed, or who are annoyed by drivers obeying the speed limit in front of them: Have you written to your legislator? Have you raised a big stink about speed limits being too low? No? Do you know who has written and made a big stink? The people who think everyone should slow down more! No wonder speed limits are so low, the government thinks that it's what The People want!
