Cars.com says the 2010 still lacks side curtain air bags.
I think that stability control is a non-issue weight wise. What are we looking at? A light on the dash, steering angle sensor, maybe a bigger ECM and hopefully a switch. I'd call that five pounds at the outside. Regarding the crash standards, if Ford failed to design the 2010 to meet 2012 standards then need to they fire everyone who worked on the design. Its possible that the glass roof was only meant to meet current standards and will not be offered in 2012, but I bet Ford plans to keep it if it sells and designed it for 2012 standards. |

side curtain air bags would probably add 50lbs total. |

Personally...and I don't follow the Mustang at all....but based on what I've learned with the Camaro...and looking at the Ford.
I don't think the majority of added weight will come from trying to meet standards, etc. They might...I don't know - I didn't design the thing. BUT.... ...If they put this 5.0L engine in there, then it's going to be upwards of 400hp....and they're going to have to beef up the rest of the drivetrain to go along with it. They're also likely to stiffen the chassis to avoid flex, that's a LOT of power, and significantly more than the car is dealing with right now. If they're smart, they'll also add bigger brakes to help control all that power/speed. All of that's 100 pounds right there, easy. |

After its all said and done i think it will put on around 200lbs+-, which would give it about a 50lb weight advantage over the Camaro. Nothing that cant be made up by the gut of the driver.

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

Ha yea well all i can tell you is that the DCT in EVERY CAR THAT HAS ONE is a compromise of Weight for faster shift speed.

Ah, my bad, I didn't notice he said just the Mustang wouldn't get it by 2014. I still think it will though.

I shouldn't need a warning that people need to read on a forum.
