Give it time to grow and develop and judge it for what it is, not what the UK Top Gear is.
today's society, first impression is everything... imagine if you went to a new fancy restaurant and they brought you a plate with dog crap on it, then they said, "its our first day, im sure it'll get better!" i dont think you'll come back in 2 weeks to see if it went from dog crap to cat crap....

the show could have came out swinging.. get a F1 driver, comedian, and a Dr. Math/Science/Geek to test cars and hold the manufacturer's feet to the fire, it would be a hit... look at what Top Gear did when the German version came out!

I saw it last night for the first time. While I'm not sure if it was a new one or not, I liked it when Tanner drove the Evo. He really made that car look like something special. Who ever said he can't drive is down right crazy. I liked what I saw. Not every show of the brit version is good either. I think people that haven't seen the brit version will chum up to it quicker. I for one will give it a chance.

For those who've never seen the "original", this version was very "sanitary". Nothing said/done to chase any viewers away. A good first effort.

Missing? "Energy" and "enthusiasm". Like the vehicles themselves possess. But the presenters didn't present...

Tanner was the "preferred" party...probably because his talents, and resume, and previous on-camera persona with Tracy, shows a glimmer of "comfort"...and promise...

Something to think about...
I dont think we really want to go there but originally Top Gear was just like 5th Gear mostly a new car test and review show but the show was divided and 5th Gear became more of a boring review/ test show while Top Gear went more cinematic with deeper stories, like what it is today. Obviously the viewers prefeer Top Gear because its fun and exciting to watch these 3 guys and all their funny escapades.

The US Show is OK they just need another cast, preferably people who have meet before, like the FLD bunch.

The fat gay guy needs to go. Tanner I can stand, the other guy is tolerable. But the fat guy needs to be feed to the Zombies on the Walking Dead show.

Did you see the second episode with Tanner taking an Evo down the side of a snowy mountain, racing 2 skiers? It was freakin' awesome.

Yes, the banter will get better, but how can you resist 3 guys beating the snot out of new cars?

I like the show!

In the first episode I noticed the in-car camera bouncing around a lot (Viper), but did not notice this in the second episode.

I can't comment on the sound as I don't recall anything bad about it. I'll pay closer attention to the next episode to see if it sounds strange.

I don't find all the humor funny, but I don't expect to.
