For me it's something different. I'll agree it seems silly to want a V6 version of a camaro when I can get a much faster and higher potential V8. I get flack from my friends all the time but none see my point, its just something different. I don't want to be like everyone else and have a V8 muscle car, (I shouldn't say I don't want one because I have one) I want a V6 underdog that will eventually hold it's own against similar cars like a Nissan Z or EVO. It's also somewhat of the sleeper mentality, That is why I'm building up a FWD cavalier, that when done will be able to run 13's, how often do you see that? To me its just more fun.

The excitement is that the V6 so aggressively runs behind the V8 Mustang. If it wasn't seen as a performer, then it wouldn't be so exciting. The V6 Camaro will have the same excitement level as some imports that have taken the market by storm. While many of those cars are not on the same tier as the Camaro SS, their price makes them competitors. The V6 is that happy medium that gives similar numbers as a less costly price. No—it will not keep up with a 370Z, but those who want a 370Z will look at the Camaro LT as a car that can make them very happy.

I once drove a 1996 Camaro RS. It was great. I had a lot of fun, and it was the fastest car I had driven at the time. A 300-hp V6 is no slouch, and that's what makes it exciting.

Saying that a V6 owner can't be excited because the V8 is faster is like saying that we can't be excited about our V8 because the Corvette is lighter and therefore faster or that the Corvette guys can't be satisfied because a Z06 will beat it. There is always someone faster.

ill tell you what, the V-8 will always sound better than the V-6, but there is nothing wrong with a good V6.

I cite the BMW E92 M3, 415 hp, 8400 rpm redline and sounds like this

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

I'm an all Chevy V8 guy. I have a Maxima with a wonderful VQ 3.0L engine, 0-60mph in 6.7sec. Slick as silk. But to thrill me, I need TORQUE!

The Camaro V6 is a modern, award-winning design, with direct injection. GM could have cheaped out, and put the cheaper 3.6L V6 in there.

Many buyers will be thrilled with this V6, many do not want neck-snapping torque.

Everyone can be happy with a choice. Not one or the other, a choice.

For me when I got my V6 camaro years back...it was because I could not afford the insurance on the V8 (they were charging me 250 a month back in 05 for the V6) and I had just really got into cars. when your 18-24 full coverage can put a big dent in your pocket. My 3.8L was the funnest car I had. So for someone who's inexperienced working on engines, and modding I learned a hell of alot. If you want the car and you cant afford, but can afford the V6, 300 hp impressive. hell I just traded my modded 3.8L that had close to 300, for a Z28 with a little over 300hp.

id love to see a Z28 come out with lightweight CF parts, 3000-3300lbish with a twin turbo V6, 400hpish.
